Why do (some) men think they can fix ANYTHING!!

Is it just the men I've had in my life???

Car ran fine this morning.... DH thought a fuse needed changing (not a car mechanic btw)

Now car won't start!!! Grrrr.... Was all packed and ready to go away for the weekend (first weekend off in AGES) but now instead I am waiting in for recover company to pop out and help us!!!!

Why do they do it? Why do they think they can fix anything!! Even if it's miles away from their actually trade!!!!

Your DH is clearly suffering from some sort of delusional self-confidence, probably enhanced by a romantic idea that 'real men' should be able to fix a car but I don't think it's universal. I have a famously impractical father and, even after 53 years of marriage, my DM thinks he should be able to turn his hand to DIY tasks just because he's a bloke. He still can't.
