This morning i woke up to find on my facewbook page a link. This link has now upset me and made me god damned angry.

The story is, a poor dog was tied to the back of a car and dragged, the photo clearly shows all the damage done. The poor animal is covered in blood and burns from the road. It looks s sad and dejected. How could anyone do this to a poor trusting animal? It makes my blood boil. There is no need for this sort of cruelty. People like these make my skin cruel?? Hoiw would they like it if someone done it to them? ANd why are the punishments so lenient? They will most probably only get banned from keeping animals and how the fuck is that fair? Its just not. Maybe these people should have the same inflicted upon them.

Okay rant over(for now)

AIBU to think that people should not inflict upon others, be it animal or human, anything that they would not like inflicted upon themselves? Would the world not be a better place?

Sorry if i have upset or offended anyone, this was not my intention.

your link didn't work for me, but going by your op, all i can say is that their's a lot of sick bastards in the world :(

and i agree, the "punishments" are far too lenient.

Gribble · 02/02/2012 10:19

Oh dear, I knew I shouldnt have opened this Sad, havent clicked on the link, did the dog survive by any chance?

Sick fuckers, makes me wonder what they would do to a human if they had the chance. People who do this should go to prison.

aldiwhore · 02/02/2012 10:19

Its horrible and it happens and I agree that sentences should be tougher.

Saying that I have to question the reasons for posting it on facebook, I hate these links, they're up there with the 'if you don't re-post this you obviously don't care' comments.

I'm sure many post the links to show their 'outrage', but it all feels like 'look how disgusted I am, I am a nice person'. Rather than a burning desire to raise awareness, we're all aware of disgusting acts aren't we? The odd one I don't mind, but on my friends list I seem to have a number of people that post outrage all bloody day... they're no 'nicer' than me, and don't care more, I think they're striving for owership of the upset sometimes.

This has obviously struck a nerve with you. YANBU to have your view at all and doubt anyone will say 'its okay, its only an animal' not even a meat eating beast like myself. Hope you get the image out of your head soon, and if you need to 'do something' you can petition for higher sentences or do some voluntary work for animal charities...

bugger, now Ive got that story of the poor dog in Spain (was it Spain??) that was found buried alive, I remember the pick of his little snout poking through the mud.

Im so angry, Im probably going to whistle when I go for a piss now Angry

FlightRisk · 02/02/2012 10:25

I don't want to look at the pics. I feel very strongly about this too. My dream job would be to be an RSPCA inspector. I remember once when I was younger a boy was throwing stones at his dog, he'd tied it to a pole sat on the swing and just threw stones at it Angry. So I punched him square in the face and took his dog home and told his mum. I think he got smacked off her too (it was the 80's).

Animal cruelty is low but abandonments are high, apparently because of the recession. Which I don't understand because I own 3 dogs and 2 cats and I'm on JSA at the moment. Fair enough you have to change to cheaper food and your dog/cat may not like it but believe me if your dog/cat is hungry they will eat the food!!! I know vet bills arr high but get them insured!!! It sounds expensive on benefits but I would rather may my pet insurance than contents insurance. I can easily go wthout a TV rather than my pets.

Gribble · 02/02/2012 10:30

Id rather go without food as long as my kids and my dog is ok, when times are hard (end of the month usually) we just give the dog our leftovers. Pets are not that expensive, I think some people just get bored and use the recession as an excuse. My neighbours have done this 3 times, got a puppy then got rid when it reaches about 5 months old because of the cost apparently, then they just get another one - their reason being that the breed they have gone for this time is cheaper as its smaller and doesnt eat as much Hmm . I dont speak to them anymore because of this attitude, twats.

FlightRisk · 02/02/2012 10:34

Gribble you're neighbours are twats. For this reason alone bring back the dog licence!! At a decent price so people actually think before getting a new dog.

JimmyChooChoo · 02/02/2012 10:36

I completely agree OP.I always wonder how anyone could inflict any pain of any living thing. In the last week I must have seen on FB links of footage of :a poor dog giving birth and set alight,a dog being beaten and someone sent me a 'cause' link where you sign a petition for the chinese fur farm where they skin dogs, cats and racoons alive.I wish I never these awful horrendous images..I cannot get them out of my head and sometimes I feel ashamed to be a human..it makes me Sad and Angry. The thing is how can it be prevented and what can any of us do?It's a cruel cruel world. Also what aldiwhore said about 'doing voluntary work for animal charities' is a great idea-I once got myself so worked up about a terrible act carried out on a dog that I called a local dog shelter and my name is on a waiting list to do voluntary dog walking at the weekends(still haven't heard from them though-must be alot of volunteers!)Ps sorry for my lack of spaces in this post my 'enter' key doesn't work Blush

EllenandBump · 02/02/2012 10:38

Mum has 17 rabbits, and 5 cats! She is only on basic state pension and she still manages! Surely if you cant keep it then you rehome it KINDLY!! Sorry i feel so strongly, you shouldnt take an animal on if you cant see it through. Mums next door neighbour had a cat, but mum has taken it on cos she is now in a nursing home...this is NO ONES FAULT, but these evil bastards have no god damned thought for life. LIFE IS A GIFT, the most precious one you ever have! If they done it to a person they would be charged with ATTEMPTED MURDER OR GBH, LIFE INSIDE. They get a fine and get to walk away, how god damned unfair. If people were kinder the world would be a better place. There really are some sickos out there. SORRY.

i worked at a stables when i was a teenager who bought horses who had been mistreated and re habilitated them, most turned out okay...some didnt, some never forget the pain and hurt that was inflicted upon them.
