I just can't be bothered to scroll through them all.

Especially when someone has replied to something I've said right near where i said it because by the time I scroll through all the other new replies I can't remember what they've said.

I'm on my phone/iPad so maybe that makes a difference but I see (654 replies) on a thread I felt insanely quite passionately about hours before and just think mnah

lightweight Grin

Grab a coffee and a bun and settle down.

If it's hundreds of posts it's bound to have kicked off Wink

Nagoo · 31/01/2012 12:04

YABU

The best bunfight threads are much longer than 100 posts Grin

wahwahwah · 31/01/2012 12:04

Only when they are funny.

I do enjoy looking at page one of a long one, then scrolling to the last page to find that the thread has been completely hijacked and become something completely different.

MateyMooo · 31/01/2012 12:07

i agree when its a funny one... its always worth it
but i avoid the long ones too.... it's too Jeremy Kyle - everyone shouting at each other but without a referee!

FaithHopeAndKevin · 31/01/2012 12:08

My phone won't let me read anything over >200 posts or that I've bookmarked more than twice. Makes things a little easier.

notveryinventive · 31/01/2012 12:08

I dont always often bother with them either. I CBA to read it all. If its something that interests me, I might have a quick look and may comment, but I just cant be bothered reading the full thread. I just read the first few and the last few to make sure its not changed topic. I also always read every post from the OP (highlighting them all so they are all one colour really helps with this)

As for the ones that have kicked off, I either take a side and get into trouble or just simply CBA saying anything. All depends on my mood. Im on a few long threads, but now Im on them I can just read the endings of them.

SuePurblybilt · 31/01/2012 12:09

Goodness me, but that's very arrogant - so only your response to the OP matters to you and you're not interested in the views of others?

I do see that the very long ones are difficult to read, have you changed your settings so that you can bookmark and highlight the OP's posts? That makes skimming through a lot easier Smile.

FlightRisk · 31/01/2012 12:11

Yes I only read them when they're funny ie the customer entitlement thread was shocking and funny but no I usually don't bother to post on them if they're in their hundreds. I assume someone has already said what I would say anyway so there's no point in repeating.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 31/01/2012 13:24

By the time a thread reaches a couple of hundred posts, nobody is listening anymore anyway. What the OP said is ignored and "the usual suspects" fight amongst themselves, usually over a word useage or obscure point of etiquette, and nothing relevant or helpful gets said. This is interspersed with people desperately trying to get the thread back on course and/or get people to play nice.

coraltoes · 31/01/2012 13:26

Pom has summed it up nicely. I assume this thread will now end. No point racking up 100 replies!

OuchCharlie · 31/01/2012 17:42

Thank you all for lovely replies - I'm new and thought I'd get slated. You made me laugh and love Mumsnet a little bit more.

Coral toes hear hear!

There really should be some kind of virtual signage leading to the bunfight - if there is one - so you know it's worth continuing!

OriginalJamie · 31/01/2012 17:47

just do as others do. Ignore the ongoing conversation and post your reply to the OP.

AndiMac · 31/01/2012 17:49

This topic had 14 replies and I nearly didn't bother opening it. ;)

MAYBELATERNOWIMBUSY · 03/02/2012 19:37

WITH U ON THIS ONE >ONLY SO MANY DAYS.........

fridakahlo · 03/02/2012 19:45

I genrally find my attention wandering by the fourth page but sometimes there are threads that keep my attention beyond that.
Skim reading is the thing to do.

LittlePandaBear · 03/02/2012 19:48

Let's get this to 100 posts...
