Last minute baby shower... Help!

A work colleague is expecting her first baby and it's been the done thing to have a baby shower when someone goes of on maternity.

I'm currently on mat leave, my little man is 7 weeks old. No-one has volunteered to organise this girls baby shower and it's getting embarrassing, so my friend who's a super organised type has been pushed into organising out of a sense of duty. She's invited people for this Saturday but she has too much on so I have reluctantly said I'll organise it.

Other than my own one, I haven't been to a baby shower. What does it entail? What am I going to need to get it done? I'm not close to the girl it's for so not sure how I can make sure it's right/appropriate for her.

I need help from Mumsnet desperately!

Ps sorry for long op, but I don't want to drip feed info about why I'm organising at the last minute.

From what I can gather (friend's got cancelled as her baby arrived early) it's tea, cake, gossip and maybe some games, like guess the baby weight.

This website looks fairly comprehensive and you can steal borrow some of their ideas.

Thanks Charmingly I appreciate input, tea and cakes should be easy enough!

Wow OP, that's jolly decent of you! I don't think I'd be offering to do this if my own was only 7 weeks old!!

I hope it goes well and you don't put too much pressure on yourself! Smile
