To request that everyone I know stays put for a bit?

I have just received a lovely new address book from Moleskine and am seriously considering demanding requesting that none of my friends and contacts move, divorce, marry, die or have any more children for a while as that would mean defiling my beautiful new book with [shudder]crossings out.

I realise I may be a tiny bit anal unreasonable but I do so love a nice shiny new item of stationery...

YANBU!

cyb · 28/01/2012 17:05

Write in it in pencil

mrsmaltesers · 28/01/2012 17:08

Totally fair enough. it is the absolute least they could do for you if they really are your friends.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 28/01/2012 17:10

Do as I do.

Purchase a lovely propelling pencil like this. And a high quality rubber.

Then when they move, t'is a doddle to amend. And you get to browse stationery porn looking for the right pencil!

archfiend · 28/01/2012 17:10

But then it might go smudgy or fade! Grin I realise I am not being entirely rational here, but I hate making it look all messy!

I'm just not sure it would look 'right' if it was in pencil though I do like the idea of browsing for more stationery

Mrsmaltesers-I think so!

I had to put mine on the computer as I felt like you about it and no matter how many times I asked nicely, people still kept moving and having babies - inconsiderate bastards.

They are aren't they?! Grin

Maybe I could just put people who I know aren't going anywhere into the book? begins to question own sanity

YABU! I like it when people move as I can put a (neat!) line through the old address & add new one. It makes it look more loved and reminds me of the tiny address book my mum has when I was a child that somehow magically contained EVERYONE'S addresses & replacements.

I love it even more when people get married and change their names. Then I write 'for [old name] see [new name]' under the old name & address. Brilliant.

Buggering strike through fail.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 28/01/2012 17:38

I have to confess though, that when I was younger I moved about a LOT, I have two pages all to myself in my Aunty's address book - it's quite funny looking at it and remembering some of the places I lived :)

fairimum · 28/01/2012 17:38

I had a special pen that had rubber on the end that used to work really well!

archfiend · 28/01/2012 17:44

atruth I do know what you mean-current book is full of changes and it is a bit of a record of people's lives, but the blank book is all new and shiny...!

fairimum I quite love you! That site is wonderful!

I think I may have a tiny stationery problem Grin
