God help me, toe-curlingly awkward conversation right now with my DSis and can't take it. Her PFBness is through the roof, her competitive claws are out and sarcasm just can't break her down. Help!

Just say "that's nice, dear" at suitable intervals and meanwhile think lovely, beautiful thoughts about anything else in the world in space.

Only don't go looking up any threads on Classics. You'll snort with laughter at the wrong moment, she'll suspect you weren't listening properly and there'll be all hell to pay.

i though you were meaning a fairly new baby at first- you know, "oh, he's 5 days old & smiling" "i said his name & he looked at me, he's soooooo clever!" - type thing.
