Benefits, bullies and bridges

Enough, shut up, please. The surfeit of bollocky threads about benefits is doing what no other MN drama has managed to, making it so shitly boring and horrible in here that I'd rather iron my tea towels than MN.

AIBU to wish that HQ would consolidate all of the current benefits threads, including this one, into a single thread?

Ooh this thread was brought to us by the letter B!!
I was wondering what your AIBU was going to be about. Title made me smile.

Thankgodforcaffeine · 25/01/2012 08:48

I thought it was about bullies on benefits building bridges. Confused

Pagwatch · 25/01/2012 08:50

I asked this yesterday

[[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1390650-MNHQ-PLEASE-can-you-put-all-the-benefits-cap-threads-in-one-place-and-I-never-normally-shout here is my thread with mnhq rather lame response]

Pagwatch · 25/01/2012 08:51

Just caught five minutes of Carol McGriffin lumping all benefit claimants as no good, lazy scroungers. I'm a single Mum of a disabled child. he is thirteen. I worked from age thirteen until twenty four.

I had no choice but to give up my job which I was very unhappy about. I then had to claim benefits of which I'd heard of but knew nothing about. I've chosen not to have anymore children as I'm not in the financial position to do so.

The guilt I have felt since day one of claiming has clouded my life. the frustration at not being able to continue my career has been imense aswell as the natural sorrow of grieving for my disabled child. I've had several attempts at work and college and each time I've had to stop because of my Son's severe ilnesses.

I myself contracted Meningitus and almost died and was at college at the time. I feel hated by the working public. I feel judged and worthless. I vow to hide any further threads on MN about this subject.

GoingForGoalWeight · 25/01/2012 08:56

*immense etc

Sockrates · 25/01/2012 14:44

Gosh, going, there's so much pain in your post. I'm sorry you've ever spent a moment feeling like that, and that there are empathy free assholes who spout such shit about it, let alone the rest of what you've been through.

Maybe they'll listen, Pagwatch, do what they did with the MM threads. Off to check your thread.

I think benefit stats whould be broken into fallen on hard times, single parent, disability, carer, illness, mental health and fucking lazy.

Everyone knows that the welfare system is abused by a tiny handful and needed by many, it's not a hand out it's a help that we as a country contribute to. Because if nothing else even heartless bastards don't want to see homeless children?? (even those that would rather not work is just a symptom of society telling them that they are fuck all)

PosieParker · 25/01/2012 14:50

Going. If people want to judge you just hope that that burden hangs heavy around their necks.

Sevenfold · 25/01/2012 14:52

posie and unlucky. that would cover things like redundancy.
op yanbu it is getting plain daft
