Rude or not rude...taking my own kitchen tools

I'm a normal "housewife cook" I think - I'm not a real foody, I'm not obsessed with "cooking from first principles" but I do that sometimes and juggle with some pre prepped things sometimes to. I enjoy cooking though.

I'm going to a very good friend's house for the weekend...I always cook when I'm there. I'm cooking for a "girls night in" on Saturday...

Would it be frankfully weird (and tbh she really isn;t the type to be offended...we've known each other a long time through thick and thin) for me to take some of my kitchen gadgets with me. My friend really doesn't cook....

All sounds relatively reasonable...but I'm flying down...!!! Would it be ridiculous to take a manual food chopper, some knives etc in my hold baggage (wouldn;t do it in carry on obviously).....

Or should I spend some time getting over myself...

If she doesn't have the utensils you need, then I don't see a problem Smile
My DH loves his kitchen gadgets, I'm sure he'd take them everywhere if I'd let him Grin

Please take them - there's nothing worse cooking with someone else's blunt knives!

Labootin · 24/01/2012 12:13

Are you allowed knives in hold luggage ?

I always take my ancient vegetable knife when I stay anywhere I'm likely to cook

( I do think I'm turning into my mother though)

GingerWrath · 24/01/2012 12:14

Take them, I always travel with my knives, especially when we go to my DM's place as she is left handed and all her knives are crap for a right handed person.

NO!!! DONT!

I once tried to bring weapons in from Prague, and it was a disaster. Such stress.

And this was BEFORE the 9.11 so much more lenient.

I had to bring the same weaponry into Norway from Britain, as they were gifts for my uncle.

I ended up escorted by police and dogs through Oslo airport with police carrying my bags.

Maybe I should just take my knife sharpening gadget...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm flying internal to the UK if that makes any difference
