My DD's school outings include going on trips to Alton Towers, Laser Quest, a working farm, and a Ballet.

I have said she can go to Alton Towers, Laser Quest and farm but not the Nutcracker. The school are saying all or nothing well then sod them she can have the day off and they are saying it will go down as unauthorised even though I have told them she wont be in school that day bloody school pisses me off.

does she want to go?

why do you not want her to go?

NettleTea · 22/01/2012 22:21

whats wrong with the ballet??

ReindeerBollocks · 22/01/2012 22:22

Is there a reason you don't want her to see the Nutcracker CTR?

I think their policy is slightly strange, bearing in mind not all parents would be able to afford all of those trips.

ZZZenAgain · 22/01/2012 22:22

is it the cost you object to?

scurryfunge · 22/01/2012 22:22

Are you taking the piss about the recently deleted thread?

MuckyCarpet · 22/01/2012 22:22

The canvas was half price in the sale. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

troisgarcons · 22/01/2012 22:22

Never heard of payiong for all 4 trips or forfeiting three before. So send her to school, she can clean spare PE plimsoles or cut the field with a pair of round edged scissors.

drama drama drama

ZZZenAgain · 22/01/2012 22:22

which thread?

MonsterBookOfTysons · 22/01/2012 22:22

Grin Chaos, your story sounds very familiar!

Thankgodforcaffeine · 22/01/2012 22:23

I missed the deleted thread!

maybenow · 22/01/2012 22:23

why on earth would you refuse permission to the ballet? do you have some kind of moral objection to ballet? surely it can't be h&s as it seems the safest of the options.
the only reason i can think is if your child has concentration or behaviour problems and couldn't sit still? if this is the case has she got special support staff to help?

squeakytoy · 22/01/2012 22:23

ahhhhhhh Grin

tentative123 · 22/01/2012 22:23

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 22/01/2012 22:23

Why dont you want her to go the Ballet?
Have you got something against folk in tights tights?

crazynanna · 22/01/2012 22:24

Is it the recent terrorist assassinations of the art of dance on Strictly that is making you feel this way?

Biscuit
maypole1 · 22/01/2012 22:24

You must be some sort of horrible Chav mum or a TROLL you will let her go to laser quest and Alton towers but not the ballet

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 22/01/2012 22:24

Because the ballet is wrong! The DM tells me so!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 22/01/2012 22:24

That Ballet.

[fume]

She'll be coming home all LaDiDah, I don't want that. Down to earth my girl.

oh fuck off. have i just made a tit of myself for not knowing this was clearly some in joke among people who've been on mumsnet all day BlushAngry

Thankgodforcaffeine · 22/01/2012 22:25

What WAS the thread? Please, someone tell me!

squeakytoy · 22/01/2012 22:25

yup... next thing you know, she will be turning off X Factor, and tuning in to the Opera...

slippery slope and all that....

ChaosTrulyReigns · 22/01/2012 22:26

Erm, maybenow, that's not very polite.

Not an in joke, just a parody of a thread that was on earlier that was just as nonsenical as this.

OP posts:
ReindeerBollocks · 22/01/2012 22:27

maybenow you and me both!

I should've known as soon as I spotted CTR as the OP.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 22/01/2012 22:28

hahahahahahahaha bloody marvellous chaos but this all feels a bit familiar Hmm

scurryfunge · 22/01/2012 22:29

Thankgod, it was a thread about visiting a number of religious establishments but not including a Mosque. A poster turned it into an anti Islam thread.
