  1. They are always bloody right
  2. Insist on re loading with strange priorities
  3. Are unwilling to learn new ways.
Your experiences?

My DH washes dishes by hand a lot better than I do

He like... Dries them and shit Hmm

AllotmentFreak · 22/01/2012 20:52
  1. Crockery up the right way instead of upside down.
  2. Stuffing too much in at once instead of doing another load
  3. Yanking the switch too far around so the programme starts at rinse
  4. Not emptying when finished
TheFarSide · 22/01/2012 20:53

Yes, DH dots things about so you can't fit everything in, then have to move everything closer together.

I have trained him to unload though.

OldMumsy · 22/01/2012 20:55

They never load the dishwasher in a proper and logical fashion. Ditto for supermarket bag loading. FFS you do the heavy stuff 1st and then put the fragile light stuff through, it's not pigging rocket science!!!

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 22/01/2012 20:57

God, no! YANBU!

Except about them always being right. My dh is never right when it comes to anything in the kitchen.

My dh put things on the top that should be on the bottom and vice versa. Despite being told numerous times how to do it properly. Today I had to swop mugs from the bottom with a dish that had been put on the top. WTAF is he thinking?

Minimammoth · 22/01/2012 21:01

Yes Usetoomuch. Mine does the upside down thing, pans on top. Always have to redo by hand. And insists on restacking if I have loaded. grrrr

Oh dear, not a good thread for me today!

DP is always right, about everything. Including loading my dishwasher that I owned before I even met him. Every time I load my dishwasher he unloads it and reloads it. So I have stopped putting more than the odd cup or plate in (it surely saves him time not having to take it all out before he reloads).

FreudianSlipper · 22/01/2012 21:06

that man can do things as well as women as women can do things as well as men

ladies its 2012 not 1959

2kidsintow · 22/01/2012 21:08

My OH has 3 irksome dishwasher habits

  1. Never loading anything into it (leaves them on the side above the dishwasher)
  1. Never empties it (just carries on leaving more things on the side as above)
  1. Sanctimoniously bangs on about how cleaning the filter is vital for every wash as if he is a constant user of the machine.

Grrrr.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 22/01/2012 21:21

Mine does the leaving things on the side as well. It is SO annoying! The draining board that he leaves stuff on is directly above the dishwasher, so it gets left just inches away from where it should be. Angry

He does empty the dishwasher, but sometimes I wish he wouldnt bother because if emptying the dishwasher means taking other pans out of the cupboard so that the just cleaned one can be stacked with them, then it just seems to blow his mind and render him incapable.

catgirl1976 · 22/01/2012 21:30

YABU as my DH doesnt even load or empty the fecker. Just piles stuff up in its general vicitinty.

I once asked him why he had not put some dirty plates in it. He looked at me with befuddlement and said

"But it was full of clean dishes so I couldn't"

Didn't think of emptying it then? Nooooooooooooooo.........didn't cross his mind.

McHappyPants2012 · 22/01/2012 21:32

my dh can load the dishwasher better than me ( just don't tell him or he will get a big head for being right)

aquashiv · 22/01/2012 21:35

Wish he could even load it put his plate in it tht would make me happy.
NO ONE loads like moi.

aquashiv · 22/01/2012 21:35

....then again think I have been duped as NO ONE bloody well loads.

Asinine · 22/01/2012 21:36

My dcs are in charge of the dishwasher. I've heard them fighting about whose turn it is to put the tablet in....

PastGrace · 22/01/2012 21:36

YANBU.

Another DP here who gaily stacks things up on the side. Today I had just cleaned down the kitchen surfaces (still had the cloth and spray in my hand) and he trotted in and put the dirty plates on it.
Me "can you put those in the machine please?"
Him "but there's still some lettuce on the top one"
Me "Hmm so scrape them off and then put them in the machine"
Him

My general rule is that I will load, and he unloads, so I can understand why he might not have automatically put the plates in the machine, but I was clearly just finishing cleaning and he was next to the dishwasher. And he didn't unload it the last two times, so he owes me two loadings and unloadings.

chipmunksex · 22/01/2012 21:36

My dishwasher is dead Sad

PastGrace · 22/01/2012 21:37

Although he is very good at getting the pans in the cupboard in the right order so that it still closes.

Credit where credit is due.

FunnysInTheGarden · 22/01/2012 21:40

YANBU. DH is very particular in many ways, but a total arse when it comes to dishwasher loading. He admits he hates it and so I generally take it all out and reload it properly. He is happy with this!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 22/01/2012 21:43

You lot are blessed. Never mind the dishwasher, it's taken me 8 years to get it into his head that you don't put the eggs in the bottom of the bag FFS Hmm.

northcountrygirl · 22/01/2012 21:44

My DH is actually better than me. He always restacks it and can get loads more in than me. And it comes out clean. He's always faffing with the salt and the rinse aid too - it borders on the obsessive. Very, very irksome.

YANBU

Minimammoth · 22/01/2012 22:39

Freudianslipper. There weren't many dishwashers around in 1956 though, and we need a place to vent. it's therapy.Wink

CurlyBoy · 22/01/2012 22:43

Yes, OP, I load the dishwasher and completely subscribe to your methods. Since I always unload it why shouldn't I insist on loading it in my irksome way and insist on reloading it when my wife does it wrong? :)

Panfriedstardust · 22/01/2012 22:44

Well OP, try saying my man irks me in his loading method. No other man will so irk you, and not all men are irksome in their loading method.
thank you.

Hollyfoot · 22/01/2012 22:46

My DH is a restacker too northcountrygirl. I tell myself its a handy skill for stuffing more in the car boot when we are going away. Otherwise I might have to divorce him.

He packs supermarket shopping beautifully as well.
