To be annoyed at pharmacist?

Have a cold, that has made my asthma bad. Went to emergency doctor just now, was nebulised, and told to take my steroids.

I told them I have a supply as I was prescribed some last sept, to take only if needed (which I didn't).

So after taking them I discovered that the expiry date on one lot (the strip I used) was 10/11 (so nearly three months out of date).

The other strips all expired in August, a month before they were dispensed!

OK, I should have checked (though to be honest I don't, as it's not the same as picking from the shelf, as you have no control on what the pharmacist gives you).

I'm a bit worried as to how dangerous it is for me to have taken them

It is wrong that that has happened, and you should complain, but, if it makes you feel better about the dangerous part, lots of pharmacy bods in my family who all say the reason the meds have expiry dates on them is that they haven't researched the efficacy of the drug beyond shelf life of a few years. Not because they are dangerous after the expiry.

They shouldn't be dispensing out of date drugs.

However, they'll do you no harm at all. Like Poultry says the only possible negative is that they may not be as effective but they were only just out of date so that's probably not a concern for you.

Aah thank you both... I was beggining to feel sick & worrying that was an effect of the drugs.

I do feel I should have looked at the expiration, however I've never been giving drugs, after, or even close to, their expiration date
