To find it impossible to watch Tracy Beaker without crying...

FFS! My 5 year old loves it. I can't watch it without crying.

Is it me or is it completely traumatising!?

Tonight we watched as the new manager of the children's home, who is very mean, carried out a search on all of the children's bedrooms including the room of a child with ADHD who was crying and distressed over what was happening because all his neatly lined up belongings where muddled up. The scene ended with him holding the only birthday card his Mum had ever given him which had gone up in a previous scene where a fire was started.

Sob.

YANBU - I have the same problem.
I cry at nothing. The only thing that has this affect on me is Tracey Beaker. Pretty much all of the stories are heartbreaking but told matter of factly and thats what does it. I don't cry at anything else because it feels manipulative and like thats what they're trying to do/induce. Whereas Tracey Beaker is more just thats how it is, tough shit, deal with it.

Toby the bad luck boy - I was hormonal at the time and in floods.

Oh good, not just me then. You're right it is the matter-of-factness. And the obvious loneliness of the kids that is never really spelt out but you can feel it. Even though the acting is appauling and I doubt it bears much resemblence to an inner city children's home Grin

It's also the lack of privacy that sets me off... and the fact that when they move in their stuff is in bags. Oh god, I've set myself off again.
