to report this non-picking-up-dog-poo-owner to the police?

I was in our village centre yesterday and saw a dog not on a lead. As I was watching it, it crapped beside a tree (pedestrian street, tree in middle of street).

I figured out who the dog belonged to, but they were just going into a shop. I told him about what the dog had just done & pointed to where the offending item lay. He assured me that his wife had bags & they'd pick it up when they got out the shop.

I checked later. They didn't.

The village has CCTV. Should I report them to the police or will I be laughed out of the station?

I've seen people on several occasions come and collect horse poo to put on their garden (presumably!! Grin). Funnily enough, never seen anyone who wants to collect dog poo!!

It's the environmental health department of your district council. If you know where the dog owners live then they can issue a fixed penalty notice on your witness statement.

I ring up all the time to report people because it is the most complained about thing in our village. I photographed a none poo picker upper this week and have sent that off to the district council as well as asking around in the village to see if we can identify him so he can have a fixed penalty notice too.

It is a council matter. I get so angry when I see dog shit. I have a dog and these lazy gits spoil it for the rest of us! There is one owner in our street who never bothers to pick it up and the amount of shit that one dog creates is astonishing. It is a Boxer and she never bothers to walk it so the mess is horrendous. Maybe it is a good thing she never takes him up the park?
You have inspired me OP. I will phone the council. Ours has a dog poo line Grin

The link does not say 10 people a year go blind. It says there are 10 people a year who report as cases, of which blindness is a rare complication.

Most people who have it never report as a case because it doesn't make them unwell; they just create antibodies and develop immunity.

ShellyBoobs, that video was hilarious!
YANBU. I would do it too, it's disgusting and the law is there for a reason.

The parish council or civic warden would be a good place to start, then try your local police station. Lots have posted about the legal side of it, civic nuisance is how it is regarded by our pc and as we are a reasonably small village a quiet word does wonders!

I have a footpath running down the side of my garden and our cars, porch and door mat permenently stink of shit. Of the regular walkers only one has their dog on a lead, they clean up too.... The others,,, well I feel like following the Czech example.

Yes! Report to council, there is some hideous bastard that lets their dog shit all over the pavement OUTsIDE OUR NURSERY. I mean, of all the places.

If you think people not picking up after their dog is bad, you should have a horrible neighbour like mine who likes to throw his dog poo at you car house, garden you name it. Of course he should be a police matter I here you say, well now apparently it is not a crime to throw dog poo at someone's property it's only a crime if he manages to brake something.
