to not pack ALL the loveys

I?m flying long haul with DD (2.9) later this week. She currently ?NEEDS? to sleep with: pillow, white cat, baby, mama panda, baby panda, gopher, iggle piggle, and sometimes grey cat. Typically, only white cat and baby make an appearance when she gets up, though it depends on her mood (the less happy and ?awake? she is, the more of the herd comes with). All of these fill her Trunki (leaving my rucksack for nappies, spare clothes, snacks, a surprise magazine w/tat for her, and a book or something for me delusional that I am that I will have time for myself on the plane , etc ), there?d be no room for ?daytime toys? if they don?t go into her bag.

WIBU to only pack pillow, cat, and baby (and a blanket)? She doesn?t have anybody to sleep with at the Childminder?s, as DH (who drops her off) won?t let her bring anyone with her for fear of losses ... maybe that?s why she only gets an hour or so of a nap there, and usually naps 2ish hours at home

I would reduce to the minimum and also at home to be honest. Hopefully she will nap on the plane and your magazine will get read.

My rule is max two cuddlies when we go on holiday otherwise they do fill the trunki. All toys must fit in the trunki or they don't come. I am quite draconian about it!

We have a cast of thousands that dd
Sleeps with too- i usually let her take 3 things (including her favourite). A blanket is a good idea as helps dd settle if out in car seat /buggy but wouldn't bother with a pillow as too bulky.

Sympathy re herd [eyes 12 things still lieing on bed from this Morning and aware that is only half the bed pack]

We did a 15 hour flight with DS who had just turned 2 at the time and we only took 1 teddy and a blanket, He was that shattered and excited he wasn't overly bothered.

Cut it down to a couple and let her choose a new one if she spots something she likes in the airport shop.
New toys are always a very good distraction on planes.
Long hall you will get blankets and pillows.
Shortfall you don't. I found this out the hard way when DD2 fell a sleep with my arm digging into the arm rest.
