I stupidly installed this as I saw it on my friend's page and thought it looked quite good. However, I quickly realised that it is really confusing to use when people post on your wall as posts seem to "move around" rather than remaining linear as on previous FB versions. There is also no way to revert to the old version.

Thanks for the headsup. I hate novel FB innovations.

The only decent thing they've ever added is "see friendship" as it gives you a fuzzy glow when you can see a page with a collection all of the fun times/jokes with you and a pal.

WorraLiberty · 05/01/2012 17:26

I hate it too but apparently, everyone's going to be forced to have it soon anyway Sad

The bit I hate is all your old status messages from the past showing up.

Great, like I want to be reminded of the night I got pissed a couple of years back and abused my Aunt Mary for wearing crocs Grin

If it any consolation its being rolled out for everyine whether they like it or not any day now.

When you have the time you may want to review old posts and delete any you dont want your NOW friends to see or block certain friends or groups from viewing them.

I have changed over on the review - and so have 7 day to make any changes before it goes live but then thats it I am stuck with it too. I too am finding it hard to navigate and find certain features I use alot.

Flisspaps · 05/01/2012 17:27

If you hadn't installed it then it would have been enforced on you on 11 January anyway.

I dislike it as I am not a fan of fixing things that aren't broken.

Fortunately, I hardly ever go onto my own page anyway, just leave News Feed up. I'm only on there really to nosy at keep up with other people.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 05/01/2012 17:27

I like it, looks much better.

marmiteandjam · 05/01/2012 17:32

I hate the way they can just force things on you. I know I don't have to have a FB account but I like to have one; I just really hate this version.

O jesus I detest reliving things I've said in the past in the same way I hate the sound of my own voice tape recorded.

This must be why loads of old friends photos posted ages ago of have started coming up again in my news feed. People must be seeing them on a friends' wall, then commenting on them again so they appear as 'news'

What's the premise of it then, Advanced FBers?

reelingintheyears · 05/01/2012 17:41

Don't like it either.

Don't want it.

Pah.

NorthernWreck · 05/01/2012 17:43

Hate the new facebook layout. Kill it! Kill it!

Kayano · 05/01/2012 17:45

I love it.
Embrace change!

I love that you an make things more prominent and you can easily look back in time and see what you were doing in previous years Grin

ViviPru · 05/01/2012 17:49

I see - it looks like my tumblr page. I quite like the aesthetic. And I quite like the idea of a more dynamic profile page. I noticed on the Mark Zuckerberg documentary that his page looked like this and wondered what it was all about.

"Once you get timeline, you'll have 7 days before anyone else can see it. This gives you a chance to get your timeline looking the way you want before other people see it.

To help you get started, your timeline includes some of your top photos and stories. Hide or highlight whatever you want and add anything that's missing.

Only the people you originally shared a post with can see it on your timeline. If you want, you can go back and change who sees a post, delete it or just hide it from your timeline."

It doesn't say anything about dragging up old statuses etc from the past - perhaps they are these so-called "top" photos & stories. I don't like the way FB decides for you what is top, what is 'interesting'. DP's best friend's hourly boasts may get 67 likes from his sycophants, but don't rate high on my interestingness scale, thank you very much Facebook....

I LOVE it found loads of pictures of the twins just after they were born which DH must have uploaded i had no idea they were there ;)

Itsallgonetitsup · 05/01/2012 18:40

StrandedBear What is a developer account and why have you got one? Who gets them?

Not that I embrace change well enough to want one tbh - just nosey.

The one thing about the time line is that if you have a friend now that you dont want to see certain statuses that was not your friend when you first joined FB - then they can still see your old statuses - assuming they cba to flick through your timeline and be nosey. I have my 13yo daughter on my fb and have her in a certain group which I bar fom seeing most statuses of mine (I have her as a friend so I can keep a bit of an eye on her FB pages for added safety). My daughter can now go back to last year before she was and read all of my statuses. Tbh - there is nothing awful I would be mortified if she saw it but there is a few things I would rather she didnt like banter between myself and some of my girlfriends.

I changed over to timeline 2 days ago and have deleted and customised all of 2011 and 2010 statuses and now just need to do 2009 before I am happy to go live. Its painstaking. You cannot delete a whole year or month. You need to go into each individual status but then that will be becausre really FB wants us all to share everything with absolutely everyone.

I am struggling in finding my friends groups on the new timeline page. This is like my groups of friends - like work, college, old school mates etc. At the mo I can link into them through the old page but cannot see how I can see who is in what group using the new timeline page - anyone????

Methe · 05/01/2012 18:47

I love it! It seems much more intuitive than the old one which was rubbish!
