To want him to compliment me?

salmonskinroll · 04/01/2012 17:11

Name changed as he knows my regular name.

Aibu to want my partner to compliment me sometimes? Or at least once? Maybe not even compliment but make a comment.

I have no idea what he likes about my face/body or finds attractive. He has never said 'I love your eyes' or you have lovely legs etc.

Is this normal?

He might tell you the truth and then certain posters could post...
LEAVE THE BASTARD
:)

Do you have a northern male?! If so yes.

It's depressing isn't it. If only he knew how far a bit of nice feedback could go... I've tried to broach this with my DH but it hasn't got me very far.

PopcornMouse · 04/01/2012 17:15

YABU imho, some people just aren't the gushy types. Doesn't mean he doesn't love your eyes.

We went to a wedding together recently and I wore a beautiful silk dress, got my hair done, the works. The only thing he said was 'that dress is lovely' and later on 'you do look nice in that dress'

The clothes get the compliments. I sound like a right caaah but it's annoying.

my DH rarely compliments me and when he does it is all "my sweet.....my precious....my lady....." leaving me to think that

a - he is taking the piss or
b - he is getting all his 'chat-ups' from dodgy period dramas or more worryingly, c - that this is just his banter and he will be whispering sweet nothings to me like Pepe Le Phew from the cartoons till the day I die.

Better than nowt.

ItWasABoojum · 04/01/2012 17:21

Send him away on his own - you might get a postcard like

Whatmeworry · 04/01/2012 17:23

Yes he should, but far more important is what he does - how does he treat you?

In my experience most men are not great complimenters but show appreciation by action (in fact my mother always warned me about "flattery-men")

8oreighty · 04/01/2012 17:23

I would love my dh to tell me u had a sexy ass!!! Best compliment of all. I have to fish like mad for them and gets tiring as when he dies say something nice I feel like its only cos I asked

8oreighty · 04/01/2012 17:24

Stupid iPhone! I mean tell me I had sexy ass...

mummakaz · 04/01/2012 17:25

The only time DH compliments me is when he's pissed Hmm

salmonskinroll · 04/01/2012 17:33

My mum said the same thing whatmeworry that it's better he shows it as men who shower you with compliments don't last. Still, would be nice if he said something just once..

I worry about what my dh is after if I get a compliment Grin. However, on the flip side; do you compliment him?

valiumredhead · 04/01/2012 17:52

Do you have a northern male?! If so yes

Mine's the same! Grin

nativitywreck · 04/01/2012 17:55

Northern men can be quite complimentary! Why, sometimes they say " you look alright in those jeans" and buy you a pint!
You women, asking for the moon!

salmonskinroll · 04/01/2012 18:02

Yes I've complimented him, told him what I find attractive etc to give him a little boost
