Really quick as am on my way shopping but....

Surely as soon as someone is eliminated they will give up as the sense of failure will be soul destorying?

Surely better to offer prizes with the best going to the biggest loser and so on downwards?

The last one I watched, they brought them all back at the end and they'd all lost a fair bit of weight. Even the ones who got booted off first.

But at the end of the day, this is a gameshow where the audience get to laugh at fat people from the comfort of their own armchairs whilst eating kebabs.

I really don't think they give a toss about the contestants

I don't think that anyone involved in making these programmes is genuinely concerned for the individual participants. They seem to think that everyone enjoys seeing a sad, fat person being kicked when they are down.

carernotasaint · 03/01/2012 21:37

I fucking hate programmes like this and dont watch them. They seem to think its ok to exploit people because of their weight (plus the overweight people going on these shows are simply buying into the celebrity culture, just like the contestants going on the X Factor do) but society seems to think its ok to make a spectacle out of overweight people as they are seen as the "safe prejudice".

They have an "at home" prize for the people kicked off, to keep them motivated.

Anyway its a competition, people who enter know that, and they know its a TV show for entertainment not a counselling service.

YABU.

YANBU. I don't actually watch it my husband won't let me but would much prefer it if the format was a straight competition with all people still there at the end. But I agree that the programme makers couldn't give a flying fuck about the contestants, as long as the ratings are good.

care I totally agree...it sickens me...and fat arse people are an easy target...they are fat...it's their own fault
