AIBU to not be surprised about gender discrimination

I'm not surprised that there is such a thing as gender discrimination, reading comments like this one: "I have never really harbored a lot of respect for Russell Brand, but really, it reaches new highest of LOWs when a man tries to make money from his wife in a divorce proceedings. It's disgraceful and tantamount to selling off ur manhood, basically. Forget about the money and walk away from the marriage with at least ur pride in tact. Come on!!!"

It's fine for a woman to make money out of a divorce, but if a man does it? AIBU? And yes I know IABU for reading the Daily Mail.

On the plus side, that comment currently has a rating of minus 17.

I suppose it would help if Russell Brand wasn't a loathsome unfunny hyper-gobbed big long streak of idiotic piss. Maybe.

Tis not OK for women to make money from a divorce either according to Daily Mail who brands them all gold diggers etc, read any article about Heather Mills. Daily Wail is a vile hate rag and YABU for paying any notice to any opinion in it.

He should get what he deserves.
If the law says he should get a payout from her then so ne it and he deserves it.
Good luck scary man with funny hair.

YABU... I think it's a valid point in this case. The separating couple are both very wealthy, successful people in their own right, there are no children involved and they've only been married for five minutes. It's not like either of them has been reliant on the other's earnings or sacrificed their career for 20 years to look after the children. When it's as equal as this, the dignified finish would be for everyone to shake hands and walk away ...
