AIBU to worry about my old mattress

just ordered a new mattress online and realised i don't know what on earth i am gonna do with my old one.

It's a king size and too heavy to lift and it won't fit into my little ford focus so i can't take it to the dump.

will it fit in my focus?

They might take it with them, you never know. Push comes to shove, freecycle it, you'd be amazed at what some people will take.

treat the stain by dampening and then put a heavy concentrate of bicarb on it, and then once dry, vacuum. It may take a couple of goes though.

Mine's utterly rank actually. It used to belong to my sister too.

Hydrogen peroxide (99p from Boots pharmacy counter) is brilliant at removing stains. Or, before you put it out for collection, put an old fitted sheet on it

Call your council. Ours will take away up to five bulk refuse items for free. They put out skips for public use as well quite regularly.

Definitely worth getting a mattress protector - not just for stains (yes, I get them too Blush) but you sweat buckets while sleeping, plus there's the dust mites.

Depends on who you bought it from. Most stores will pick up the old mattress when they deliver the new one. But you will need to call them and let them know that you want the old one taken away. Sometimes there is a small charge for this...£7 or so.
