Update their Facebook status several times a day with how much fun their having / how great xyz is can't actually be having that much fun? Surely if your so busy havin lots of fun you wouldn't be updating on Facebook every 2 mins about it?

Blackberry is a wonderful thing. Two seconds, a quick update, and off you go still having a great day. Today I found out someone amazing is getting married, then that my mum and her partner who has only just survived a very high risk brain haemorrhage are engaged, that my new Great Granny looks great in a Christmas Cracker hat, that my son had a lovely time with his dad, that DSS loved his new Ipod Touch, that DP reckons I'm evil for not buying him beer and that most of my friends have had lovely days through pictures and statuses.

Why is it deemed such a bad thing to take time out to catch up and update? No blooming different to making a phonecall to tell everyone how wonderful things were and how are they?

Grinch!

It's not a bad thing, I'm not talking about people's happy updates just the odd person that always seems to have at least 4 updates with how much fun there having or something else. I've had a good Christmas, it's nice to read my friends have but whilst checking fb I've just read these updates from the same person know one person has

  1. had so much fun opening Christmas stockings

  2. is having so much fun watching the kids playing

  3. has had so much fun and now is making Christmas dinner

  4. had a perfect dinner, chilled out watching the kids play - perfect

  5. has put one of the kids to bed and is having fun reading with child 2.

  6. both kids in bed and is having a glass of wine, perfect

  7. has been spoilt with all her presents today perfect

I take a photo with my phone, press a button and it's on FB
(if I want it there). It hardly takes up my day. :)

KittyFane · 25/12/2011 22:13

BTW, don't be taken in by 'perfect' photos of anything.
My Christmas photos are lovely. They show what I want to be seen. Fortunately, cameras can't take photos of my thoughts!

difficulttimes · 25/12/2011 22:17

I'm afraid i've been one of those people today, got engaged today, smug status ahoy Grin

KittyFane · 25/12/2011 22:21

YouOldSlag · 25/12/2011 23:47

YANBU, My two friends went to a music gig recently and updated their FB status 8 or 9 times during the evening, in order to keep us all informed about how great it was.

Couldn't help thinking- if it's that great why are you on FB?

hatesponge · 25/12/2011 23:52

My FB & Twitter earlier was like a live stream of who got what/gave what to their DC for Xmas complete with photos of said gifts being used/played with Hmm

This probably irks me more because I don't get presents (aside from ones I buy myself) so am a bit bah humbug about it all!

pinkyp · 26/12/2011 09:11

YouOldSlag - that's exactly what I mean! Grin

YABU. Some people enjoy life and social media. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive.

I have a good friend who updates twitter constantly. I've no doubt he's having a good time and using twitter just makes him happy.

I don't use it that often because I'm of the opinion that no one will care about the minutiae of my life. But that's how I feel, I love reading other people's updates.

AIBU to think people who... start threads with titles that give no clue as to what the thread is about should have their thread-creation rights revoked?
