I'm sure a decade ago around christmas they used to be tiny, loads of them in great big nets, about 40-45mm. I liked them much better than the bigger ones. I ahve just bought some bigger ones which are nice enough, but not the same.

i assume this isn't serious enough for AIBU so please see my other thread:

"AIBU to be frustrated and disappointed that I can do nothing to effect world peace within the lifetimes of my children?"

Are they not different types of orange-fruits? There are clementines, satsumas, tangerines etc....I'm fairly sure they are all slightly different sizes. Are they definitely clementines? We just used to call them Baggy Oranges when I was a child.

PaintedToenails · 23/12/2011 23:55

No, no, no. I don't want to talk about World Peace. I want to talk about the size difference in various Orange-Fruits!

World Peace.....ridiculous.....

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2011 23:56

no they were definitely clementines - the labels used to say "clemenules" which amused me greatly (probably still do)

YANBU. We used to buy a box of delicious small clementines for Christmas - now we can only get big bruisers, which aren't nearly so good. Bah humbug

KittyFane · 24/12/2011 07:33

I hate the smell of clementines. Love Satsumas though.

:o!

wonkylegs · 24/12/2011 07:37

I've got tiny ones Grin

CogitoErgoSometimes · 24/12/2011 07:53

Paintedtoenails is right. They all get bagged up as 'clementines' because that's what consumers understand to mean 'seedless soft citrus'. The nets can contain all kinds of different varieties... clemenules, ortaniques, mihowase. Growing conditions and orchard management also affect size.

YANBU - but only because your thread title made me laugh!
