Dd is 7 months and has generally been a gem all round, she's had a bad cold over the last few days that has meant she has had a few bad nights resulting in little sleep for dh and I! Dh works ft and I do nearly all of the care for dd inc baths changes breast feeding (obv) night time routine and dh gets asked occasionally to do things with her ie change her nappy...two days ago he was doing a nappy change that turned into a mare and ever since then he says kids are a nightmare and we are not having anymore! At the start of the week he was talking about a big family and when I just popped down to say she's being a persistent monkey tonight she's been crying For ten mins whilst Ive been in the shower he said yeah kids are horrible that's why I don't want anymore!! :0( because she's not horrible...hard work but not horrible one bit! I have a feeling I know what's going to be said.....:0( appologise for crap punctuation typos and spellings as I can't proof read the post!

He's possibly stressing about something else, Maybe work related? I'm sure he will probably change his mind.

AgentZigzag · 17/12/2011 22:43

I take it you don't think he was joking?

But why would he say he wants more at the start of the week and say that at the end?

What did he say when you picked him up on it?

Angel786 · 17/12/2011 22:44

Yanbu.

It's really tough when routine goes out the window and the baby is unsettled / unwell. When she gets better and you both get more sleep, i'm sure the 'kids awe horrible' phase will be over!

I spent months two to five thinking I'd made a mistake and would never want more! Almost as soon as dd started eating, sleeping properly (making her much happier) we're expecting no two Grin

Hope she gets better soon

Sadly I don't think it's a joke Sad he's said nothing other than this for the last three days...he's said we argue and fall out more and he doesn't like it(neither do I) but I would do it all again! I don't know why but I get the feeling he means it this time, when he said it tonight I came back upstairs and laid on the bed feeding our little lady and thought large dose of MN I feel so sad.

Aww don't take it to heart!

I've lost count of the amount of times I've said kids are horrible over the years, but I still had 3 of the little blighters and I love them to bits Xmas Grin

Husbands can be horrible too sometimes, but I still keep him around Wink

EverybodysSnowyEyed · 17/12/2011 23:02

Of course it's a phase.

She's 7 months. If I had suggested to DH at that age that we have another he would have cried!!

He'll change his mind. He's just going through a phase himself

SebastionTheCrab · 17/12/2011 23:20

7 months in is still early days. For the first 18 months after I had my first DC I was adamant I never wanted any more children. I now have 3 DCs. Grin

People say a lot of things when they are knackered.. and dont mean most of them.

Also there is probably a lot of reason behind why few most people have at least a two year gap between children... by the time your baby is 18 months, you will have forgotten these nights, and all you will remember is the happy gurgling little baby that brings you so much joy! Wink

Yawner247 · 17/12/2011 23:33

Thanks my lil peaches Smile you've cheered me up...I find it strange that he has always said about having children close together so that the baby phase is out the way in one go iykwim(whereas I've always said you must be mental) and the fact that he's gone to the other extreme puzzles me I guess it must be his adjustment phase! Some posts have made me see things from a different perspective as he's just had his birthday and has been talking about being old and knackered!! Maybes he's worried about playing footy in the garden in the futureGrin he has just apologised for snapping at me Blush
