hi im not sure if im in the right place but i need advice anyhow. my nan recently took in two cats there young well so we think and lovely her neighbour was moving so my nan took them in without thinking really. sadly she passed away last week and lives in a council house she has had these cats for about 3 months they never leave the house. as she passed i have to empty her house and have until next week to do so, i would love to take them myself but i live in a second floor flat and really couldnt afford to. iv asked family but no one is intersted and to be fair most have dogs, i just really dont know what to do its heartbreaking enough to go through my nans things and now to rehome these cats. just to add i have tried cats protection league but they dont have the room. im devastated so if anyone has any advice please help it would be really appreciated. thankyou

Have you got a Blue Cross rescue in your area, have found that they are very helpful. Also a lot of areas have independent rescue centres that may be able to help

cantspel · 16/12/2011 21:48

Do you have any local rescue centres who might be able to help?

CoffeeDog · 16/12/2011 21:49

anywhere near Surrey.... :) most of the local mogs pop in for a visit anyway i am sure Percy could be perswaded to share sofa space ;)

We got our Mog from cat protection ... give them a call - hope they find a good home soon

Try local vets notice boards plus local mumsnet and netmums boards

Good luck

TalkinPeace2 · 16/12/2011 21:51

where are you
have you asked four FB friends

I've had cats from big charities and a FoaF
the latter is better

latest cat cost me £10 food cover to his breeder
prev cat - huge hassle through national charity
all prior cats - personal contact

so sorry to hear about your nan, sadly most of the rescues the length and breadth of the country are on long waiting lists, the one i work at has a six months wait, on saturday last had two phone calls the same thing people who had died, and i couldnt help them at all all i can suggest is get them on as many waiting lists as possible, put notices up in local vets, and if you are on e bay go into community at the top of the page, then go into family homes and gardens and appeal on there you never know the people on there are very caring and love cats you could also ask your nans neighbours if anyone knows someone who could take the cats on either together or seperately

issey6cats · 16/12/2011 23:06

sorry family home and gardens is in disscussion boards
