I work a few hours a week to a charity i think is worthwhile and does good , helping families in trouble , today i met somebody who uses the charity and was pleading poverty last week and we gave them some items they needed for them and the children , today they were laden with xmas shopping and were telling me their kids will be getting X YZ for xmas , now im not saying her kids dont deserve christmas I just think she is taking advantage of a charity , AIBU to just give up as im now dissaluisoned with the whole thing , this isnt the first time ive come across this , not sure what i want people to say just need a whinge really .

They'd done a big shop.

They had food. And some presents.

Sadly there will always be people who take advantage of charity. If you quit then people who are genuinely in need will also lose out. If you are that bothered why not be constructive and see if there's a way your charity could work out who is more deserving so the less deserving are weeded out?

Just becasue someone is taking the pee doesnt mean you should lose your goodwill.

You don't know where she got the money to buy presents from - she could have felt v bad about not being able to do a proper Christmas and ended up getting one of those loans with a massive APR. Which might explain why she's so skint for the rest of the year?

I wouldn't give up. Or, if you really felt annoyed, you could switch to a different charity.
