By the dull, boring, turgid, unappealing, over-packaged, over-priced, synthetic, gift-box cosmetic crap that was offered in a 3-for-2 at Boots yesterday. There was rows and rows of it, all fully stocked and fully unsold. Is there any wonder?!

Any wonder what?

MabelLucyAttwell · 15/12/2011 16:40

thatTit wasn't sold!

MabelLucyAttwell · 15/12/2011 16:40

Sorry. No wonder it wasn't sold.

lljkk · 15/12/2011 16:41

I think that's the type of stuff that appeals to last minute impulse buyers.

actiongirl1978 · 15/12/2011 17:11

And it is always 50% off on boxing day and then 75% off by the third week in January. So a complete waste of money full price.

ViviPrudolf · 15/12/2011 17:13

Imagine being the buyer who has to procure all that shit then? One of my BBFs is a buyer at Mataland and she used to have to buy seasonal & gifting. Horrendous.

ViviPrudolf · 15/12/2011 17:15

And points for using the word turgid OP One of my faves. Although it somehow always reminds me of hearing it used in relation to a penis. Can't remember when or what that was all about though.

VikingLady · 15/12/2011 17:15

I think it is for in laws and similar, who have no idea what to get you. So they go for pink boxes for females and blue boxes for males within their price bracket.

I hate the ones my in laws get me. I also hate pink and I have plenty of bath sets already. I would rather have vouchers, if they don't know what to get me, but apparently they aren't a real present. Nor will they buy off a list, as that would not be a "surprise". It seems to have escaped their notice that getting the same horrendous Boots bath set every year is not a "surprise" either. And being pg the smell will probably make me queasy, too.

You've got me started now...

VikingLady · 15/12/2011 17:15

And I know that is ungrateful!

stargazer83 · 15/12/2011 18:20

Turgid from 10 things I hate about you? Head teacher writing a steamy novel.

IneedAChristmasNickname · 15/12/2011 18:25

My ILs always get me these, despite having been with DP for 11 years (albeit with a 2 year gap) HAd they bothered to get to know me in that time, they would know I am allergic to most of it, as it flares my exczema up no end :(

Mind you, I am grateful to get anything, as the 1st 4 years me and DP were together they refused to acknowledge my existence Hmm

Liluri · 15/12/2011 18:28

I'm surprised my MIL has avoided giving me one of those perfumed monstrosities.
She'd be thrilled at the thought of her gift bestowing seasonal thrush upon me.
