DH rang about 15 minutes into me cooking from scratch a MN recipe for the first time to tell me he was going to be late and to eat without him. Too far in the recipe to stop, plus still needed to feed DD and myself.
Well, it turned out bloody lovely and I've polished my bowl off in no time. DD is stuck into her fruit salad pudding and all I can think is that his portion is sat in the oven.....waiting for somebody to eat it......Mmmmm! Xmas Grin
What excuse could I give? He didn't know I'd started cooking and we don't have a dog. Xmas Wink

Go for it! Tell him to pick himself something up on the way home.

wahwahwah · 14/12/2011 17:58

What was it?

Is he expecting something to be left for him? Have you got something in the freezer he can have instead?

What was the recipe?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 14/12/2011 18:00

I vote for Eat his food. It's not his till he has it, right now it is still yours!

:o

mynewpassion · 14/12/2011 18:20

Eat it and tell him to grab something on his way home to eat so that you don't have to cook again and he gets to eat something.

LydiaWickham · 14/12/2011 18:22

Don't eat it - you've already had your dinner.

If you do eat it, it'll ruin you're evening - you'll feel guilty for eating his meal and feel all fat and bloated for having two dinners.

DeepPurple · 14/12/2011 20:28

Did you eat it?

FredFredGeorge · 14/12/2011 21:04

Save it for leftovers for tomorrows lunch, get a bowl of cereal out for him.

Pishtushette · 15/12/2011 10:40

C'mon OP...what was it, and did you eat it?

treelightfiascoagain · 16/12/2011 10:14

My apologies for disappearing!!!! DD decided to spray the laptop with water and it's been drying out ever since!!!! Xmas Shock

The recipe was the cheats chicken pie from here (can't do links, sorry!) and it was amazing! I didn't eat his tea, just as well as he came in from a nighmare day and promptly collapsed on the sofa. I heated it back up for him and he wolfed it down and asked for seconds! It was so good we had it last night too! Xmas Grin

I was just going to add that you shouldn't eat it because he's obviously late home from work and would be hungry. Now you have learned to leave it alone next time!
