To think eBay should ban this buyer?

Buyer bought an item off me and took it to the day of dispute opening to pay me! Unfortunately we were away for the weekend when they paid so I sent it immediately we got back. buyer emails me from a different user name saying you over charged me postage and is going to negative me. Asked how much was on stamp and total over charge was £2. So fair enough was going to offer refund of a £1 as post office is 5 mile round trip and cost is p&p to be fair. In the meantime buyer emails again saying going to give you negative even if you do refund me and is hideously rude! I reply saying I see in feedback for this name you do this a lot as will report both usernames to eBay. they bought off me with a username with 4 feedback! Get a reply back calling me a cunt! They negative me anyway saying item is crap and I am a rip off merchant and it took ages for item to arrive! obviously emailed eBay with abusive email and asked fr feedback to be removed but aibu to think eBay is a buyers paradise becaus they can do what they like? Also had my first ever neutral in over 200 feedbacks because item slow to arrive because royal mail took 3 days to deliver an item after i dispatched it!

Have you informed eBay that this buyer called you a cunt? If so then do, as well as complaining about the feedback. I recently had unfair feedback about me removed so they do take sellers into account (eventually)

I did and got the standard "we can't tell you what action we took" but evidently it wasn't banning them as feedback left after eBay replied to me about it!

Ebay will remove any neg from someone like that, so dont worry.

The best way to get any proper response from ebay is to use the live chat system, they are usually very helpful.

I am dealing with someone at the moment who wants a refund, because "his mum doesnt like the earrings"... Hmm

I spoke to someone on live chat and even they confirmed that as the item was clearly as described, and he has received it, I have no obligation to refund him, and they will remove any neg he leaves.

hermionestranger · 14/12/2011 00:20

Fab advice will do that? It just gets up my nose because I am always honest and fair and have always refunded postage if I over charge, I usually notice first though but last week life just took over.

Another thing I do, is have my default setting to "seller despatches within 3 working days". I actually do send stuff out the day after it is paid, (sometimes even on the day if it is paid before I go out that day), but it gives me a bit of leeway in case of emergency too, and the invoice that the buyer gets will have an estimated arrival date that is well past when the parcel is likely to arrive.

Don't expect ebay to do anything to stop buyer from just changing user IDs. I had a transaction where a buyer tried to scam me for a $100 doll (long story, was supposed to be a swap through a message board, when she lied and said her trade item was destroyed we agreed to use ebay and she would by the doll on there - then ought it with a brand new account rather than her established one and refused to pay,e ven though she had my doll)... it took months of threatening to report to Internet fraud at her local police dept. and other things before we finally resolved the matter (very unfairly to me, as she mailed the doll to another person she was scamming deliberately so I would have to pay another lot of postage to get it back) and negged me. She also auction wrecked a lot of my listings for a while afterwards.

EBAY did eventually an both the accounts I knew about and could prove were her, but it took ages to get that action and even after banning her they left her neg on my feedback and her minus stars on my rating. She still tries to auction wreck me with other IDs and they do nothing.

Ebay doesn't care as long as they are making money. They only get involved when they find they have to pay out.

Am finding bay a nightmare at the mo. Q a few buyers who buy it now and then don't pay. Another who wanted a refund as dress doesn't fit. Had sent it to Malta, told her I'd refund her but not the postage. She ten said she wanted an exchange for a ( more expensive) handbag so I ended the listing for the bag. Then changed her mid and wanted refund again. Finally sent the dress back but not the coat hanger that was sent with it (a designer dress and branded coat hanger)...

Now I've got a phone which I sold, and hasn't been delivered. As i on,y sent it second class signed for royal mIl won't refund me the full value...

It's def a buyers market. And bay fees plus paypal fees make it v hard to actually make any profit.

hermionestranger · 14/12/2011 09:53

I've already got them sent to 3 days anyway! I do find ebay so frustrating sometimes and you're right, the fees are getting ridiculous.

Angel, with your BIN items, change the setting so that people have to pay immediately. I made that mistake a couple of times and it is irritating. If someone "buys it now" it isnt unreasonable to expect "pay it now".

Dawndonnathatchristmasiscoming · 14/12/2011 10:18

If it's any consolation, I always pay immediately.
I too have been ripped off, but the other way round, and then it seemed to me that despite the abusive email I received, ebay was on the sellers side.
Guess it's just the way it goes.

Mandy2003 · 14/12/2011 10:28

I've now "sold" the same pair of designer shoes for the third time!! Two non-payers in a row, and now waiting for the third to pay. All have been new eBayers, with feedbacks of less than 10. Ebay make so many sanctions against new sellers, how about they start doing something to regulate buyers? LOL. It will never happen.

Angel786 · 14/12/2011 10:48

Thanks squeaky I'll do that now. Mandy yes the ones who haven't paid are all with zero feedback or less than five. One said shed changed her mind as she found it cheaper but didi have any leather jackets ?!
