NOT MUMSNET NOTHING TO DO WITH MUMSNET BUT GENERALLY.... If you used another forum but then someone showed you a forum created to slag off the first form then found reams and reams of crap written about you.

Would you feel you were being unreasonable to think they were a seriously sad bunch of nutjobs? Why would posters hide on one forum to slag off posters from another. It seems incredibly sad.

I emphasise this is not MUMSNET, completely unrelated to this site.

baubleybobbityhat · 13/12/2011 19:09

Yanbu.

Happens off Mumsnet all the time you know Xmas Wink facebook, twitter, pms, and even whole new forums!

But yes, very very very very sad and also a little bit tragic.

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 13/12/2011 19:10

Oh yes. I'd think they were really pathetic.

However, I'd still want to make sure they knew that I knew. And exactly what I thought of them.

sitandnatter · 13/12/2011 19:14

I've been lurking to be honest just watch it. So far I have been accused of being 7 or 8 different posters all wrong. These people are the biggest bunch of fools, I am not sure whether I should give them the satisfaction of answering or just be glad they are safely esconsed in one place.

OP posts:
LemonDifficult · 13/12/2011 19:16

OP, please give us a bit more background. (Don't feel bad, you know the other posters would do it!)

OldeChestnut · 13/12/2011 19:18

maybe you are the sad one to be lurking on it and getting knickers in a twist about it

shrugs

mothmagnet · 13/12/2011 19:18

Do you mean the mn thread on netmums?

banana87 · 13/12/2011 19:20

YANBU and this happened to me. It's probably the same two forums you are referring to! Those people are seriously jealous and have no lives seeing how much time and effort they put into slagging off other online usernames who they don't even know in RL! And they also obviously have no backbone otherwise they'd speak up instead of schlepping off to other forum to have a moan. Grrrr it still winds me up! Angry

sitandnatter · 13/12/2011 19:21

No nothing to do with Mums net nothing to do with MN, completely different forum not netmums either, never used that one, just happened from another forum I don't want to mention it really but the point in general, is it sad?

OP posts:
mothmagnet · 13/12/2011 19:23

Yes, it's sad.
Just like people who enjoy slagging others off when they don't really know them, only the person in question can actually read what's being said.

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 13/12/2011 19:23

yes. very.

banana87 · 13/12/2011 19:25

She's probably referring to The Priory forum and Damsels...

sitandnatter · 13/12/2011 19:28

Never heard of them banana, it seems there may be an epidemic of them Shock

aldiwhore · 13/12/2011 19:29

If the spin off site was set up solely to slag you off, then YANBU.

If the site was set up for friends who'd met on original site to escape the shite, and they didn't have a few rules in place to stop bitching pretty damn quick YANBU to be pissed off.

If you've been a twat on a previous site, then you have to expect to be slated everywhere!!! But YANBU to be pissed off.

There are spin off sites that are full of arseholes who dicuss things and people in great detail and then act almost as an army to attack their target at every opportunity. There are spin off sites who's members may be a bit bitchy or vent, but admin pulls the threads quickly and recites site rules. There's even spin off sites that are private and full of people from the original who have just grown out of the original but don't want to lose touch, and quite naturally may occassionally talk about certain users from the original for a while, then get bored and move on.

I prefer my spin off sites to be private, and even then am careful what I post, not everyone has the same views, or friends after all... course there's a couple of people I'm happy to meet for lunch and bitch of a bottle of pinot with, which can be rather fun.

YANBU though. But then its not always the case that they are either.

GoingForGoalWeight · 13/12/2011 19:29

Justchat forum chatters do that on Patschat and vice versa. Just have your say and leave it at that is my motto.

sitandnatter · 13/12/2011 20:10

Aldi a number of them keep posting that they want me to join the spin off but don't want to talk to me on the main site. Like what's that about? Nowt so queer as folk!

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 13/12/2011 20:12

Thats the internet for you

cozietoesie · 13/12/2011 21:32

As usualsuspect said. (Do I know you from another place, LOL ?)

Keep yourself private, OP. Don't use social networking sites, refuse to respond to personal messages of any sort if you don't know the people well - and then ignore anything that still happens. (Won't be much if you do the above.)

The internet can be dangerous. The 'level of attention' can affect lives.

baubleybobbityhat · 13/12/2011 21:34

So what's the story sitandnatter? Are you going to spill? Its all very cryptic with the posts from Aldi and Goingfor.

MenopausalHaze · 13/12/2011 21:35

Been there and done that. I found if you delete links and have no way of getting to the offending forum that life improves immeasurably and with the added bonus of the offshooters being mightily pissed off that you're not reacting to their shite. If you can't see if you can't react. Read this and learn.

aldiwhore · 13/12/2011 21:38

sitandnatter That IS weird. Talk to me everywhere or naff off!

Do yourself a favour though, don't lurk anymore. You're only causing yourself pain. Close the door, move on. Eyes wide open though, don't forget what's been said by whom.

Sheettt, if I actually knew what people had ever said about me, I'd probably be a quivering wreck. Best not to know, or find out and run for the hills.... hanging around to see your character assasinated is never a good thing! Whether justified or not.

chipmonkey · 13/12/2011 21:38

Is it rollercoaster and magicmum?

cozietoesie · 13/12/2011 21:43

Well I'm happiest if nobody says anything about me anyhow and anywhere. But then that's easy to arrange.

:)

BrianButterfield · 13/12/2011 21:45

This happens on EVERY forum at some point. Every single one.

thepeoplesprincess · 13/12/2011 21:49

I think it happens on all forums- certainly happened on the last mumsite I used to frequent.

I've also done a couple of searches on here, and it's clear that I've inspired (poss indirectly) various posts. I just take it as proof of my utter legendariness.
