To consider never bathing ds again?

Oooohh, the bloody trials!

It's a recent thing; he's done it before. But he's just decided that bath time is for losers. He screams from the second he goes in, until the second he's plucked out. I've tried not bathing him for a few nights; no difference. He had a poo explosion tonight so it had to be the bath. He almost screamed himself sick.

Sigh. He's 14mo btw.

I'd honestly consider taking him swimming more often and giving him a brief rinse off in the showers afterwards. I think washing babies is overrated.

DS2 went through this phase, I used to get all set up, pop him on, quick once over with flannel then out- 2 mins tops! He screamed bloody murder, but it was over quick. Then one day I popped him in, turned to get the flannel and when I turned back he was sitting playing happily! 180degree change for no discernible reason!

Just hang in there! I like the sink idea, he might feel more secure up at your waist height.
Good luck!

DS had a M&P seat which he liked and the one day just went nuts about being in it.... screamed and screamed and we took him out and put him in the bath (v shallow on a mat) so he could sit up on his own..... he was fine after that. DD never went in the same seat and as soon as she could sit up on her own put her in sitting. We line up all the toys on the edge and they have to push each one in and I let them put things like dolls, action men, cars etc in the bath - so maybe can he put hi favourite truck or toy in with him?, let him squirt the bubbles in and if all else fails try the shower or get in with him.

Have you tried letting him play in the bath without any water in it? Also ds1 hates having a hair wash, if he has a hair wash every time he has a bath then he knows he is going to hate it.

By separating hair washes from bath time it got rid of the bath time angst and now I can do some hair washes in the bath too. Calling it a little swimming pool can help if he likes swimming or calling the pool the biggest bath in town too...

My DN points at the sea and says "bath" sagely.
