christmas nightmare. My mum puts loads of pressure on Christmas must be prefect kids must be so excited presents by the bucket load family together etc etc. The actual story is I wish it was a bit more relaxed, my brother is bringing wife a dc over from Singapore arrives Tuesday Christmas week. I don't really get on with my brother he is very moody and I haven't spoken to hIm for months nOt that I haven't tried he doesn't reply to emails. Is it reasonable for us to arrive christmas eve I've got 3 small kids and travelling from north down south. Mum making me feel bad not getting there before but I think Friday will be a nightmare to travel. She thinks my dh should have fri off and we should all come then we are staying still da after boxing day is that enough?

Christmas eve to boxing day sounds like more than enough to me.

Stay as little or as long as you want to. You get to decide what is enough, not your mum, not us. You are allowed to enjoy Christmas.

If your mum keeps pressurising you, say "actually, you're right, that is too short a visit, it's not really worth it, I think we'll stay at home" and wait for her to tell you that C.Eve to Boxing Day is fine!

And start mentioning that you're staying home next year ...

Xmas Smile I think you're doing more than enough driving tbh, xmas eve will be a 'mare on the roads anyway, we always drive on xmas day morning , also no fun , which is why this year we're staying at home alas the inlaws are coming

Stick to your guns - travelling Christmas Eve is exciting for the dcs too - they might see FC! My dad did once - on a motorbike on the A1 in about 1957 - as they were travelling to nan's parents for Christmas.
