Being there on DS's Birthday morning

DH has a work do on Thu night which means staying away from home. Normally fine, but Fri is DS's 3rd Birthday. DH would normally leave for work around 0715 so there wouldn't be much time for Birthday fun even if he were to be at home.
AIBU to expect DH not to go to the do? Or do I just expect him not to because I wouldn't were the shoe on the other foot?
He will be home from work around 4pm anyway and we have fun stuff planned for the weekend. And I am well aware that on Fri morning DS may well completely forget all about his Birthday until reminded anyway, and perhaps I'm actually the one who's most excited about it.
What do you think?

Yes, YABU not to expect him to go to the do. He will be home at 4pm, not midnight, so you've plenty of time to celebrate!

YABVU. He will be there on the birthday in time for a birthday tea with a wide awake excited child who is looking forwards to Daddy coming home.

When DS was 3 we moved his birthday one day as he was starting nursery on is birthday. He never knew the difference.....

We did what Angel did, as I was in Canada at the time - whole thing two weeks later. We told them (twins) this year (now 12 year olds), they think it was v. funny.

Thankyou for the sanity check!

We recently 'moved' our DS birthday so we could celebrate on holiday. He obviously had no clue and had a whale of a time on his fake birthday. Enjoy his B'day whatever you decide to do Smile
