To think Yodel delivery drivers are knobs

We have sent quite a few parcels the past couple of mths & Yodel has fucked up on the delivery on quite a few of them, they lost one parcel completely, delivered another to a wrong house & then now today one of our customers emails us to say their parcel arrived today but so did a parcel that should have gone to the other buyer!!
FFS! Dont they read the labels with the address on them?
Of course customer services are shut now so we cant sort anything out till Mon morning now.
Fuckin incompetant,& the only reason we carried on using them was becasue they credited our account with the amount of goods they lost, otherwise i would not use them.

We have a driveway with a gate and have had Amazon parcels just dropped over the gate. Fortunately nothing fragile (yet), but on a couple of occasions it's gone on to rain and they've got wet. Nothing damaged yet, but only through luck - they have no idea how long I'm out for.

In fact, sometimes I'm not out at all. We have a door knocker which isn't always easy to hear throughout the house, and a door bell which is. A number of delivery people seem unable to see the push button for the bell, or can't be arsed, so we often get cards through when in.

Cloudbase · 11/12/2011 12:59

Our local Yodel delivery driver stood on my doorstep yelling at me as I couldn't answer the doorbell straight away, as I was helping my 3yr old in the toilet when he rang. He accused me of deliberately ignoring the doorbell, then told me to never ever order from Amazon again as he would be sending all my parcels straight to the depot! I tried to explain that as a single parent with two young kids, if I was bathing/toileting them, I couldn't answer the door, he glanced at my daughter (standing behind me) and shouted that I was lying as he could only see one child Shock.

To be completely fair, he did apologise the next time he delivered something, (I guess he could have been having a really bad day) but it really upset me at the time.

WorraLiberty · 11/12/2011 13:03

Funny enough Cloud I was going to mention that the delivery woman rang the bell (open plan house so I'm literally in front of the door) and then bashed the crap out of the letter box immediately after!

I even shouted "Ok, hold on!" as I stood up Lol

SoupDragon · 11/12/2011 13:07

YABU because it's rather lie saying "All X people are Y".

I've had no issues with Yodel but found UPS to be a bunch of incompetent wankers

kelly2000 · 11/12/2011 16:31

I hate yodel, and I always check with a company if they use yodel and do not buy online if they do. I much prefer royal mail. I actually get the stuff I ordered, and if I am not in the post office is nearer than a yodel or dhl collection office.

The last straw with yodel was when I was sat at home and they popped a card through the door, saying that they had tried to deliver and as I was out they could not and as this was the second time they had tried they were going to return it. Apart from the fact they did not even knock just posted the card in, this was only the first card I had received. I went straight outside and asked the delivery guy for my parcel and he did not have it! WTF!!!!!!!

kelly2000 · 11/12/2011 16:33

clodbase,
I really hope you contacted amazon, and told them a yodel driver was telling you not to order from them as he was refusing to deliver to you, and was verbally abusive.

MadameOvary · 11/12/2011 16:42

The last time i had a delivery due I made sure I was in for it. The driver turned up in a Budget Hire Van Hmm. He was perfectly pleasant so i asked him why Yodel had such a bad rep. He wasnt sure but a lot of the drivers were agency and the rest of the organisation had had plenty of complaints too.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 11/12/2011 16:44

Ah, Yodel. I didn't know what was going on when my Amazon delivery turned up last week delivered by an old guy, no uniform or anything, driving his hatchback stuffed to the brim with parcels. So it was Yodel? What a strange way to arrange a business if so.

manticlimactic · 12/12/2011 17:54

Oh jeez. Just had a call about a mattress I ordered. My heart sankwhen they told me they were from Yodel!

A driver will be in my area between 7 and 10am so why do they need to make a note that I need it by 10?

AitchTwoOHoHoHo · 12/12/2011 18:06

YES YES YES YES YES! guy wouldn't give me a parcel yesterday despite me having HEAPS of ID to say it was me.

i was standing in street at the time, some distance from my car (where my house keys were in bag as had been loading up car with sundry children when i saw him).

i'm saying 'don't post it through, please, just give it to me, look, this is me and he is saying 'no ah've got tae post it, hen' and puts it through the door, while i am STANDING BESIDE HIM. ffs.

so i had to go back to car, some distance away (on-street parking round here... a lottery) and go and unlock door before i could get the parcel THAT HE COULD HAVE HANDED TO ME.

MariamMaz · 21/06/2012 23:21

ARGH! So I missed my parcel on Mon & they left the Green card with the 'PARCEL NUMBER" on. I immediately went online & rescheduled for the delivery to come today! I cancelled all my appointments, didnt do the shopping, basically left EVERYTHING, I didnt even take my kids to school!! I rang Yodel at 5pm on an 0871 number, was on hold for 25mins only to find out there systems are down! i went online & it wouldnt work for hours, then it said "there is no such parcel number". so i ring AGAIN & was on hold for 20mins! Only the muppet on the other end said "That is NOT your parcel number that is a refernce number & your parcel is still at the depot"! LIARS! How could I have rescheduled on Mon then? WHY post the wrong number? WHY? WHY? WHY? THEN I thought i will pick up from the depot BUT the tossers need 24 hour notice!! NOW tomorrow I have to find some time to drive 13 miles to a frickin' deppo to pick up my things! THEY NEED TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS THE £$!@&#!!

Zombie thread Smile

griffikb · 22/06/2012 22:03

May be a zombie thread, but certainly some Yodel drivers are living up to the OP's billing...

New laptop getting delivered from Amazon. I'm on maternity leave, so when I saw that it was "out for delivery" this morning I thought to myself 'no problem, I'll hang around and wait'.

7.03 it changes to "delivered. On porch".

Which is great. Except I've been here the whole time (and trust me, it's not such A big flat that I wouldn't hear a knock!) Oh, and I don't have a porch.

Checked with my neighbour who has a similar address (I'm 99a Blah Blah Parade, Something Lane and she's 99a Something Lane) but no, she's also been about all day and no parcel.

Now, the cynic in me says that it's amazing how every low value item seems to get delivered without any problem, but right now I'm steaming angry. I'd wanted to sort the new laptop out over the weekend with my partner. And while Amazon are looking into it, I kinda doubt anything will happen before the 48 hours that their customer services have said they will respond within.

Bloody Yodel.

DeathCab · 22/06/2012 23:45

I unfortunately have the displeasure of working with Yodel on a daily basis! I spend 90% of my shift on hold to the bloody place!
Also 9 out of 10 calls that come through are complaints about them!

But then, I have my Littlewoods parcels delivered by them and I've never had a problem! Think it does definitely depend on the area/driver.

PorkyandBess · 22/06/2012 23:55

Funny you should say that OP!

We have had 2 confused and vague looking Yodel blokes turn up, separately and unbidden, today. Both wanting to collect something - neither remotely aware of any details.

1st bloke said, 'you're the 4th house I have been to today that didn't have anything for me' Confused
