to be deeply wounded that I was unrecognised?

Shock I met an old friend at the woods today whilst walking Tallulah in the words today, I greeted her with joy, but she obviously didn't remember our good times. Sad Yes, yes, she made all the right noises, but I feel so hurt that this "old friend" failed to recognise me after not seeing each other for about a dozen years? We spent some real quality time together, I thought our friendship would be ingrained on her memery banks. It was delightful to see her and she has really weathered the passing years quite well. Smile It was such a shame to rush off, but I was a tad hurt, and anyway DH was due back on his jet from sunnier climes, I had to rush to the airport to fetch him. Sad

She had that "I don't know who the flip you are, but I'll pretend anyway" look.

I once did this to an ex's sister, I sat opposite this really pretty girl on the train and couldn't work out why she looked familiar. I realised 2 days later. She'll probably be kicking herself when she remembers.
The other version of this is when you greet someone enthusiastically, only to realise latter they are someone "off the telly" or whose photo was recently in the local paper or similar.

I did that recently - met a colleague in the canteen and gave him a big smile very enthusiastically, hello, how's things etc. Belatedly realised he wasn't who I thought he was and actually, we'd never met.
