To think that some coincidences are beyond normal?

I was just sitting on the sofa, chatting to my mate about my impending 40th birthday next year.

I said "Maybe my 40th will be my best year yet..." and almost as I said the words, three helium balloons floated over my fence and past my french doors...each one had a big number 40 emblazoned on it!

I went out and retrieved them...just incase it was some mysterious force giving me a gift Xmas Blush

SO AIBU to now believe that next year will be great? And that some coincidences are more than jst a coinidence?

Hope you have a great year! :)

Trills · 04/12/2011 14:06

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying so can't say if YABU or not.

But this is why the word "coincidence" exists, sometimes things happen that are out of the ordinary, or not "normal".

missbatty · 04/12/2011 14:07

A clear sign you are in for a fabulous year! Happy Birthday!

Trills · 04/12/2011 14:07

A coincidence is a coincidence is a coincidence.

But if you believe that your year will be great and take every opportunity to make it great then it will probably be more great than if you didn't :)

I was at home once and dh was at a car boot sale. He phoned ,as he does, and while we were chatting he asked if I wanted him to look for anything from the car boot sale. I had never mentioned it before as I'd just decided to cook some crumble but said "I could do with an apple peeler if you see one".
Turns out he was standing at a stall, actually holding an apple peeler at the time. He even got the lady at the stall to tell me it was true Xmas Shock

Ds and I were on the train last week and sat on a table, opposite a man. On the way back we sat on a table...opposite the same man. How weird is that! Xmas Shock Of all of the trains we could have caught and all of the seats we end up together. Was very odd.

belledechocchipcookie · 04/12/2011 14:48

at a table, not on a table. Doh! Xmas Blush

Trills I suppose I was wondering if IABU to think there is some esoteric thing attached to such coincidences or if they are just nothing but chance...

laptop that's bizzarre!

belle I catch a bus home from droppiing DD2 off at nursery and amost every day, the bus stops at sme lights and the sme woman is sitting in a taxi beside the bus waiting for the lights to change...

That's weird Whoopsy.

Trills · 04/12/2011 14:58

I don't think it's magic or fate or a sign or that it is sent by a higher power.

It is unusual and interesting and attention-grabbing.

And you now have balloons, and balloons are great! :o

WhoopsyLa · 04/12/2011 15:07

Xmas Grin Yes...and I love balloons....they ARE magic though!
