To think DH's facebook status update is a bit twattish

He put one of those "1 in 4 people have mental illness. Look at your 3 friends, if they are ok it must be you" statuses on this morning.

I know it's not a big thing in the scheme of things but it has really wound me up!! I had PND after having DS1 (2 years ago) and have got family members who have had depression in the past. DH knows all this and is normally quite supportive, his status has just really shocked me!

I text him saying "well done for mocking mental illness on facebook" and he has now deleted the status but not texted me back or anything.

AIBU??

I think you're over reacting a little.

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 02/12/2011 12:32

Hopefully, he is waiting to have a proper discussion with you about it, when you see one another (rather than texting and risking making you more angry/upset). At least he deleted the status.

HeadfirstForHalos · 02/12/2011 12:37

I think you are over reacting a little too, I have BPD and can see the humour in the status, although it's not something I'd post myself.

HeadfirstForHalos · 02/12/2011 12:38

TBH he probably doesn't even see you as having had a mental illness, I know my own dh doesn't see it with me.

StaceymAloneForver · 02/12/2011 12:48

i think you've probably overreacted abit, it's an old joke and he probably didn't realise it would upset you so much. At least he deleted it, and will hopefully come home with an apology

TroublesomeEx · 02/12/2011 12:53

He thought it was funny.

You didn't.

You told him.

He deleted it.

No problem.

Well, some people are more tactful than others.

AntiqueAnteater · 02/12/2011 14:00

lol its really quite amusing

Barbielovesken · 02/12/2011 14:10

You're completely over reacting tbh.

He thought it was funny, so do I really and I have/ do suffer from depression and an anxiety disorder.

Hassled · 02/12/2011 14:14

It is a bit of a twattish status thing, but also you are over-reacting a bit. Understandably over-reacting, though. He could have thought it through a bit.
