DH is pc obsessed. Has built a very expensive and 'future proof' gaming pc Hmm at future proof. He just finished it earlier this year

I am chilling in bed on MN on my phone while he plays skyrim.

The damn thing just went off!!! To wails and cries and despair. My heart has just sank. Hit the floor. I'm pg with first baby and we are pretty poor ATM buying all the (stupidly expensive) stoofs. He is trying everything to get it to turn on but if not it may be expensive to fix

Argh!!! Why now?! I may have to reassess his whole Xmas present thing.

Please God, just let it work! I need peace and a not ratty husband :(

Pfft, I really though you were going to ask us to watch some ground breaking documentary so we could all become better people.
But your post has made me feel as if I'm actually quite virtuous already.

He is on the phone to his Bro now seeking an emergency power unit Confused

Stupid pc - that's the one part out of warranty.
Thank god it's payday on Friday

sending my prayers.

I'm married to a gamer and i dread the day the PC crashes and burns

blackeyedsusan · 22/11/2011 21:45

i felt much the same when our pc went pfft. hh fixed it with a new motor, which wasn't as expensive as it sounds. maybe only one thing has gone pfft or the switch has tripped/fuse gone? do not panic yet!

Kayano · 22/11/2011 21:46

Well I started chuckling thinking it was a
Power cut...

And then realised that the light was still on... D'oh!!!

see... i know nothing of what the bits are called... I just say "yes dear" whilst nodding vacantly. i do remember that i saw lots of pound signs and it was a lot cheaper than expected.

Kayano · 22/11/2011 21:49

He has now sat
On the bed and is tapping his foot and huffing and puffing Sad

I am concerned for our savings lol

underpowered power supply unit not up to feeding the high end graphics card, sounds like.
Don't let him replace it with something similar, or it'll do the same again.
Antec Earth Watts range relatively cheap but good quality.
want a link?

Kayano · 22/11/2011 21:50

We both work in tech support so I know that this is now not looking good Sad

last time I burned out a PSU, it was because I attached too many hard drives to it at once, and they all spun up at the same time...

fruitshootsandheaves · 22/11/2011 21:55

DH is currently in the process of 'buying bits' to build DS a super gaming megabollock computer with gazillion core quadrupal harddrive graphics or some such nonsense. He is slightly obsessed with more parts arriving daily.
He won't have any interest in the thing once it's built. It's just the sourcing, building and getting it to work that he loves.

So much for the new shower.....

I feel your pain!
