to be fecking cross with DP?

I have told him time and time again not to leave his bike in the back garden overnight and last night he left it out and it was stolen.

I'm so fecking cross with him and upset that someone was sneaking around the back of our house when we were asleep last night.

YANBU, but you would be unreasonable to put on your smug-knickers and tell him that you "told him so".

Losing the bike is enough of a punishment, try and be sympathetic to him and get him a new bike for Christmas if it's possible, but remind him that it doesn't get left outside otherwise there will be no replacement again.

Just to be clear, this is your DP, not your DS?

YANBU to be upset about someone sneaking around the back of the house, but it's his responsibility to ensure his property is secure. Presumably, he's not a child?!

YANBU

A few years ago, my DH kept leaving his expensive car stereo in the car overnight as he "forgot" to take it out and lo and behold it got stolen. He then expected ME to take a morning off work, without pay, to make the car secure until the window was repaired and to clean up the broken glass in the driveway. You can imagine what my reaction to that was...

AuntieMaggie · 22/11/2011 09:58

We can't afford a new one and I doubt insurance will pay out as he left it out unsecured.

I'm not being smug about it but equally I don't want to listen to him moaning about it when I warned him so many times and especially as there have been breakins recently

YANBU.

However, if he needs one and you can't afford a replacement, your local Freegle or Freecycle would be a good place for him to look for one - DH got one from there.

YANBU.

But, erm, I did the same once Blush
Mine was stolen too, insurance did pay out though- I told them it was unsecured in the garden, but apparently as long as it's on private property it's covered.

Hope yours is too.

I keep telling my dp about this too.. He just doesn't get it. I have told him if it gets stolen then he will have to walk to work until we can afford a new one

YANBU, how annoying.

God, I'd be harping on about it for ages. YANBU-very annoying
