WIBU to ask exactly what on earth they were going on about?

Bollicks like that makes my teeth itch.

twinklytroll · 15/11/2011 21:23

And I say that as someone who does place Jesus at the centre of my Christmas.

usualsuspect · 15/11/2011 21:23

just hide it ,I hide shit on my wall from one of my fb friends all the time

AngelofTheLordiscomingDown · 15/11/2011 21:23

I received that e-mail. I just deleted it. I have Christmas in my mind whether it's PC or not.

Blow those who do not see what Christmas is for.

MarthasHarbour · 15/11/2011 21:23

defriend now! Grin

Pancakeflipper · 15/11/2011 21:24

what a crap way in getting the message about baby Jesus being born.
Don't like that style.

worraliberty · 15/11/2011 21:24

YABU to spread that shit on here

What's the point? The copy and past bollocks is bad enough on Facebook without having it on Mumsnet as well.

Either ask them or don't ask them...they're your friends after all.

SenseofEntitlement · 15/11/2011 21:26

Apparently they are sick of always being told what they can't say in case it offends people... PC GONE MAD.

Yeah, I think it is defriending time.

There is just no evidence whatsoever for this shit. When I challenged her for an example of it ever happening, she replied with "who cares?" and, when pressed, said she thought she saw something in the daily mail.

WinterIsComing · 15/11/2011 21:26

What a load of shite. I'll expect to find that one in the inbox of the gmail account I have that my Dad uses to keep in touch with his ex-pat DM-reading brother.

Delete and de-friend.

ItWasABoojum · 15/11/2011 21:27

Ugh. I'm a Christian and that made me want to puke. Can't decide whether the sentiment or the scansion is more revolting.

I wouldn't bother challenging it, though. Ignore, hide, or de-friend, depending on how much it pisses you off.

WinterIsComing · 15/11/2011 21:27

X-post about the Daily Mail Grin

RomanKindle · 15/11/2011 21:28

Paranoid bullshit. It wouldn't occur to me to do anything but wish people a Merry Christmas. I've never heard of a Dream Tree. And those Christmas trees that hang upside down look a bit shit but I don't see anything sinister in them.
And Christ-mas Hmm is about family and presents and eating for the vast majority.

JamieComeHome · 15/11/2011 21:28

Oh dear.
I used to get "round robin" emails of this kind of shite from relatives - bollocks like the fact that "the Holocaust is no longer taught in schools".

Inaccurate, inflammatory shite.

SenseofEntitlement · 15/11/2011 21:28

I'm actually really annoyed at them - I'm hope I'm not over reacting, but this is the kind of bollocks that gets it repeated as fact that "ooh, they are banning Christmas, you have to call it Winterval now, because of all the brown people"

Racist, ill informed, paranoid rubbish.

OP posts:
1Catherine1 · 15/11/2011 21:29

[yawn] As I say to anyone who spouts on the "Christmas message", December 25th was celebrated a long time before the Christians claimed it. You celebrate Christ, I'll celebrate family. We'll both have a fantastic day.

Do yourself a favour and ignore it. I always ignore the facebook "copy and paste" posts.

Shock

WHAT?!?!?!?

BUT... BUT....

How DARE anyone even think to celebrate ANYTHING other than the birth of Christ during December, even though Christianity is only one of many religions and he wasn't even born in December?! How very dare they!

Hmm
SenseofEntitlement · 15/11/2011 21:31

I think it is the bit where it mentions Ramadan, as if the two shelves of Eid cards in the shop full of Christmas cards is somehow an attack on Christmas.

OP posts:
worraliberty · 15/11/2011 21:31

Racist, ill informed, paranoid rubbish

And yet you chose to post it in its entirety?

The people who spread this shit around the internet do it because they want this shit spread around the internet

And that's exactly what you've done here OP

It may have been well intended or you may have just wanted to discuss the contents...either way you're still spreading it.

JamieComeHome · 15/11/2011 21:32
cruelladepoppins · 15/11/2011 21:32

Can't relate that well to it, in large part because most of the cultural references are American, and I am not.

I would be doing a massive Biscuit to it.

Anyway they re BU as it's only November. Wink

SenseofEntitlement · 15/11/2011 21:33

Winterval is a myth

OP posts:
ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/11/2011 21:34

I kind of want to post it on my FB now just to see the reaction

OiMissus · 15/11/2011 21:35

This is why fb needs a "dislike" button. I hate this ignorant DM type shite, but there's little point challenging it, the poster won't understand.

RomanKindle · 15/11/2011 21:36

I saw the dad of a friend of my dd's today in Tesco actually. He looked in my basket of toys and asked if I was Christmas shopping. I said yes. He said he was too. They are Muslim. They mustn't have been informed of the Christmas ban yet.
