Is it flattering or not? I thought Mercer was a Tory

Apparently he said that DC was "a most despicable creature without any redeeming features".

..."worst politician since Gladstone".

"He'll resign in the spring".

Asked where DC went wrong he is said to have replied "Well, he was born".

He is reported to have said that he didn't make the comments in the way that's being suggested. Friends say that he has been stitched up.

A spokesman for DC refused to comment.

I expect that DC will come foward in the coming hours/days and say that he fully supports David Mercer, and is behind him 100%.

Patrick Mercer always seems to me to have a very high opinion of himself. A tosser.

All politicians have high opinions of themselves. That's the problem. Smile

fickenActually, Mercer was being quite flattering in compariso with what some people would say about the Dear Leader

grovel · 14/11/2011 16:39

MrsCrimboDB, you make a good point.

MrsChristmasDB · 14/11/2011 16:52

Julia

Agree.

Thank you.

It makes me laugh that DM says he didn't make the comments in the way they have come across. How did he think they would sound ? How do you make them sound good ?

"well, DC is a despicable creature and he has no redeeming features, rue the day he was born and we are planning to oust him in the Spring, but he's the best of a lot of bad lot at the moment" ? Grin

I like a bit of gossip if its true; and it seems this is. If your a big name these days you have to be careful what you say at parties and the like; because mobile phones can pick it up. I remmember when Vince Cable was recorded saying he was going to fix Murdoch.....And going back a bit before mobiles
in TV studios they would leve the Mike on after the politician thought the interview was over. John Major was caught saying he had 3 bastards in his Cabinet. ( a bit of an underestimate.)
