Thank you to the lady that first posted on here about the above ISAF solider in Afganistan.
Myself and Chris started chatting about three weeks ago he told me he lives in Harrogate, he has a 12 year old daughter called Honey and he and his wife split as he found her in bed with his best friend. Before long he was telling me that he loved me and wanted to meet me, that he was going to try and get leave to come over to see me. He sent and i still have photos of him, i told him about my scamming fears and he said he didn't want anything from me and he would take out a loan so he could come home!
He claims he took out a loan for 2000 usd and he is due to fly home on tuesday, in the mean time i have been emailed by a major David Jobe asking for a few details, having made up some rubbish i emailed back, then i recieved a attachment of some odd looking certificates which i am supposed to sign, scan back into my computer and send back. I have since recieved a email with confimation of flight tickets with KLM. I have checked they do fly into manchester, but need to wait to try and match up details near to the time on the website.
I had googled his name as some things just didn't add up, the way he talked and spelt and this site flagged up with his name, he told that lady the same as he has told me.
Cut a long story short.
He has now started to ask me for the balance of his leave which is £1500.00, he says he is unable to get more on his loan, he is unable to get fund out of the bank as he has to turn up to the bank in person to re activate his account?
I have told him i can not get funds out of my savings for 48 hours as i have to give the bank notice, i have been told to go to western union bank in manchester, i googled the address and its just someones house!
I have to admit being single and home with only two children to talk to it was nice chatting to someone and the flattery was great, i am now going to try and play him as i am hoping while i am taking up his time he can not go out and find new prey, who might fall for it?
So for the next person he tries to scam will google his name and this will come up like i did and maybe save them from these scammers.
If anyone reads this and knows if i can send his emails too so they can look into it please let me know.
Thank you for reading this, we all need to take care and stay safe. x

Report this to the police NOW! Give your local station a ring and ask them who you can report this to.

Thanks have spoken to them, but they are not interested as I have sent no money.

He would not have to take out a loan to get home as if he is US Army, they would fly him back to the US, and the Brits fly our guys back home on Crabair (RAF) so no charge.

Again, if he is Brit military his pay would go every month into his bank account, which would not be dormant whilst away, as his salary goes into it!

The switch between USD and sterling should have alerted you. The ISAF is the umbrella they fight under, but actually those deployed to Afghanistan will be paid and deployed by their home nation, and not the ISAF.

There have been several similar cases to this - all sound tooo good to be true and usually email someone's photo in full uniform etc. Some people have paid out thousands before realising it's all a con. Am amazed the police are not showing more interest, especially if he has don this before to someone else.

ratspeaker · 12/11/2011 11:22

It stinks to high heaven of being a scam especially asking you to send money by Western Union
ANYONE can pick up a Western Union transfer anywhere if they have the number and password

check out Scamwarners to see the type of things scammer say
they often work to a "script" so certain phrases may be used

ratspeaker · 12/11/2011 11:35

Have you tried googling his email addy to see if there's any hits on that?

cookie04 · 12/11/2011 11:49

Also forgot to mention and this is the bit i don't understand, i told him i was worried he was scaming me the next day i got a photo of him holding up a card saying " i love you, my name is chris cindrich" and the correct date. If i hadn't been researching and had already found out alot about the military, i could of fallen for it. He also says because he is SPC and ISAF thats why we have to pay for him to come home!
I have photos of him without a top on but he has no dogtags on and they never ever take these off!

Message Body

Ms Michelle Cooke,

Good to read from you,sPC Cindrich is currently out of the base on a very important duty. But i need to explain some of the issue at hand to you.You could get the Spc in trouble if this email was received by a superior officer who is not aware how you and the sPC meet. But he has explained to me,only wife and trusted partners are allowed to process an unofficial leave for personnal such as Chris. He pleaded with me and explained how much he wanted to get back to the UK so that he will meet you and because he is one of our very best,we try to make him happy as much as we can,the smiles he wears this past weeks is so obvious, everyone that has something to do with him knows you are the source that is why you are allowed to process his leave. There is no way a special force can give you the details you want. Its dangerous for you,his family and the United State Army.He is in possesion of top national secret.I know about the things happening on the internet and the Military is trying to end it but i want to assure you that SPC Christopher Cindrich is a very good man. Let me knvw when you can get payment put together then i will ask the Major to reshedule his flight.

Regards

Commandant

Eric M Smith(LL.B,WW.A)

I have been tracing IP address coming back as New Orleans??
Will keep going until i get rumbled.

If he has any personal information about you I would just drop him.

He is most certainly not the person he claims to be but an amoral crook

Look at some of the scam baiting sites on how to play safe

Anniegetyourgun · 13/11/2011 14:53

Ha, that is so not written by a native English speaker.

Dillydaydreaming · 14/11/2011 08:08

Hilarious stuff - keep reporting back Grin

HedleyLamarr · 14/11/2011 09:06

Just string him along for a couple of weeks. Keep saying you're trying to raise the money, then tell him it's been transferred. When he comes back asking where it is tell him there must be a problem his end, and you can't wait to see him. Then put it all on one of the scammer forums (with all your details redacted, natch). Good luck!:)

gemdrop84 · 14/11/2011 09:40

Hi cookie, I actually posted here a while ago because this scammer was trying this on with my mum, exactly the same story/name/amount of money needed and everything! what an arsehole?!! excuse my french. xx

cookie04 · 15/11/2011 20:20

Just getting back to the base and i want u to know that i love u and i am so very tired.Whatever u have done to me please don't stop.I will be back to chat with u later.I dont know what i will do if i miss this leave and as my mind, heart and soul is no longer here.Just my body is here. The actual truth of the matter is that i love you.Need to rest...The pics of me in the combat is today.

He also told me in chat he had defused a bomb in a church and saved 20 children.......lol.....this is why the word knob and head were put together.l xol
I think he is getting wise to me tho, so i have a feeling he is going to get tired of me soon.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 22/11/2011 13:53

Scary shit all that. Nobody has ever wanted to be my topless American penfriend Grin.

howcouldI · 22/11/2011 13:53

I got all this BS too but from a Major Brown I have 114 emails and 50 hours of chat also 23 photos......he has a couple of me which may end up on internet

howcouldI · 22/11/2011 13:58

Btw I spent some time with the police who are investigating as I was silly enough to send a small amount of money, please be careful of him

Bossybritches22 · 22/11/2011 14:00

OP well done you for not falling for the wanker! Grin

It sounds like he's done this to lots of ladies so obviously they are all sensible & he is not getting any luck as it keeps happening!! (or is this his "day job"??!)

howcouldI

If it is getting nasty then change your email addy (keep the one he knows going but don't use it) and report the sod to the police.

I know there isn't a lot they can do but it might fit in with other scams he's done.

If there is no official recourse, it would make a good story for the papers & might warn off some other ladies.

Flisspaps · 22/11/2011 14:00

A very similar story was on the BBC 'You've Been Scammed' programme last week
