keep their kids away from my brand new car and stop them from drawing on it and throwing stones at it.

thinking about getting dp to go and mention it to them as my car is now scratched a lot where they have let them do it.

I'd stop thinking about mentioning it and start thinking about taking pictures of the damage, and ideally of the children doing the damage, then sending them a bill for the repairs.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 11/11/2011 16:37

Are you parked on a private driveway or on the street? If you're on the street slave is right, get some photographic evidence. If they're the type to actively let their children damage a car, you can bet your ass they'll be the type to deny their children would do such a thing.

nickelbabe · 11/11/2011 16:39

i agree.
photograph the evidence.

mummyzoe2012 · 11/11/2011 16:40

its always parked on a private drive, its 1st thing on a morning when im taking the dog for a walk they let them do it but i know its them coz i heard them souting at the kids for having dirty hands and my car is covered in their hand prints.

Could you set up a little cctv camera pointing at the car? I think you can pick them up quite cheaply and any expense would probably be a lot less than expensive body work repairs.

PopcornMouse · 11/11/2011 16:42

You need to catch them at it so your neighbours can't deny its them

AnotherEmptyNest · 11/11/2011 16:43

Get an Incident Book from your local Anti-Social Behavioour people (can't remember whether it's Police of Local Authority) and instructions come with them. Keep detailed diaries of incidents like this. Eventually ASBOs could be issued.

My neighbour's teenage daughter (16ish) would have parties when her mother was away for a weekend. In the morning I would find rubbish purposely thrown over the wall into my back garden - beer cans, bottles, cigarette ends. I got an Incident Book and it worked. The mother came round once to explain and she said, "Girls will be girls". I thought to myself, "Well, it depends how they are being brought up" but I kept my mouth shut because she had at least made an effort.

HeresTheThingBooyhoo · 11/11/2011 16:44

you haven't enough proof that it is them.

you need to catch them at it.

they are the only children on our road. and you can tell its children as the marks left of the drawing on it are too small to be adults work.

Are the parents aware of what they are doing?

mummyzoe2012 · 11/11/2011 17:02

im not sure hence why im going to get my partner to go and speek to them as he is the calmer one out of the two, plus i dnt talk to them as the lady attacked me when i was 10 weeks pregnant (now 30 weeks tomorrow!!!)

eurochick · 11/11/2011 17:05

If they were drawing on my fecking car they would know about it! What do you mean by drawing? With their fingers in the dust? That would annoy me but I would probably just catch them at it and tell them to bugger off.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 11/11/2011 17:07

She attacked you? I wouldn't bother having your DH going to talk to them - go straight to the police and let them do their job.

mummyzoe2012 · 11/11/2011 17:08

its also the trowing of the stones thats getting my back up. ive just spent 26k on a family car and they are letting the kids ruin it. going to get dp to go round and have a quite work as its now 5 months old and covered in scratches and dents off them.
