To think this is bad practice by Argos

am looking to get both my dd's innotab's for Xmas. The pink ones are out of stick everywhere and I have been checking Argos on a daily basis. I have checked today and they have reduced them by 20% even though they don't have any stock. Why would they out something on offer that is not available to buy

They have the blue ones in bletchley store if any help?

pud1 · 09/11/2011 16:34

I want the pink ones really. I have been told that's only argosstock pink which certainly seams the case when have tried to get one else where

if only 1 store has it then they can offer at lower price.

AnotherEmptyNest · 09/11/2011 16:40

Can't you order Argos things on the Intenet?

AnotherEmptyNest · 09/11/2011 16:40

Internet

You could try ringing HO and they are usually very helpful in finding if there is any stock and if there are any in your area ?

They once delivered an item for me from Scotland down to the S/E.

go to www.checknow.co.uk - type in the product code and your postcode and it will give you a complete list of which store has it in stock closest to you. HTH

Grrr argos riles me right up. We ordered a mattress from them, it was in stock on their website, were given a delivery date which came and went with no mattress even though I had to be off work to receive it. Apparently it's their policy not to actually TELL their customers if something they've paid for is unavailable. By the time we found out the sale period was pretty much over and we could not get an equivalent for an acceptable price. We had to sleep on air beds on the floor for months and all we got for the inconvenience was free postage. Then again, because Man paid, Man sorted it out and he's rubbish at that sort of thing. I'd have been much more complainy.

Personally I wouldn't trust em as far as I can throw em if you need something by a certain date.

Some stores (John Lewis maybe?) might be able to order one in for you or reserve one once they get a delivery. I'd think that might be a more reliable option.

horsemadgal · 09/11/2011 17:18

They will be back in stock once the 20% off is over. Argos seem to do this all the time.

mrshess · 09/11/2011 17:38

Argos do this all the time, they have a 'sale' where everything is out of stock and is unable to be home delivered, yet it was possible to be home delivered the previous day.

mrshess · 09/11/2011 17:49

Just tried 3 catalogue items on offer at argos using that check every argos in country website and not one is in stock in any argos store.
They really should be done by trading standards as they are advertising things which no one can buy.

I had this recently with 2 items: The Sylvanian Families Regency Hotel & Disney's Tangled Sing & Glow doll. I called HO and they said both times that they didn't anticipate the popularity of the items. Wouldn't even let me order on one of the sale days for the price of the sale and wait until one becomes available - apparently they don't do it.

hope you have better luck.

trixie123 · 09/11/2011 19:48

yep, utter bastards. waited in all day on sat for a delivery that never came, was told it was still on the van right up to 6pm, then was told they'd tried to deliver at 6.45 am and no-one had answered. We were up, no knock, no card. A blatant lie. We cancelled the order. Am now waiting to see if they actually refund the money. Stay away!
