raspberry leaf tea at 35weeks? I started drinking it with dd at 36weeks (reccomended at 36weeks) they say its ment to soften the cervix and could bring on labour....although it did nothing for me with dd as i went 11days overdue...

Would it be unreasonable to start drinking it already at the slight hope it may put me in labour sometime soon??

baby is already 6 pounds something (so the scan says)

i think i am BU but please tell me im not??

I was almost three weeks over with DD, I say drink it from conception Grin

Joking aside, it depends if you will beat yourself up if the baby is early.

JustRedbin · 07/11/2011 23:48

I would leave the raspberry and go for apples. Strongbow is my favourite.

galletti · 07/11/2011 23:51

YABU. It doesn't work! Neither does hot curry, brisk walk or that other thing highly recommended, well didn't with me anyway Smile

LorainneK · 07/11/2011 23:57

Drink the raspberry leaf tea. Though it didn't work for me and I still had to be induced as overdue. I also ate lots of pineapple. That didn't work either.

melzyR · 07/11/2011 23:58

nothing worked for me with dd either sadly.. I even tried drinking the Castor oil....Unfortunately all that made me do is literally shit myself on my walk home from the shop.Poor dp didn't know what was going on when i ran in the door and ran straight to the bathroom to get in the shower! Blush :( although the sat night i went for a 3hour walk and contractions started at 5am the following morning) i do think that was a coincidence tho lol

Apples? what do apples do??

I no i no the baby will not come till hes ready and im not technically full term for another 10 or so days.........

Im just sooo tierd and dd (aged 3.6) is such hard work when im a whale and get stuck on the floor when we play lol

mel YABU that your moaning at 35weeks i no i am, still doesn't make me want to stop Grin

Won't make the slightest bit of difference how much raspberry leaf tea you drink and when as it doesn't work, so knock yourself out.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 08/11/2011 09:42

Why bother? You're baby will come when it's good and ready.

I ate 2 pineapples a day at 39 weeks, drank rlt consistently, ate hot curry every 3 days, walked a mile and a half every day, bounced on the old birthing ball and my youngest pup was still 12 days overdue with a bloody horrible labour!

I'd enjoy the last few weeks of peace and rest up.

Good luck with your LO

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 08/11/2011 09:43

He, sorry, not it.

startwig1982 · 08/11/2011 09:49

I drank the stuff and had to stop as it is so vile. I ate lots of pineapple, went to route marches and we had sex 3 times(bloody awful). Nothing. Was 15 days overdue and was induced. Good luck!

startwig1982 · 08/11/2011 09:49

Went on route marches...

There's no evidence that RLT brings on labour. I thought it was supposed to strengthen the uterus to make labour faster and easier? Who knows if it even does that though, as nobody who's taken it knows how their labour would have gone without it.

ObiWan · 08/11/2011 09:58

MissPenteuth is right I think. If RLT does anything, it is supposed to tone the uterus to help in the second stage of labour.

Nothing short of being medically induced will bring labour on if you are not ready.

I drank gallons of the stuff (I had gone off coffee and needed something). I had very, very fast labours. But so did my mother, and she didn't do anything.

Swerving · 08/11/2011 10:20

I took rasperry leaf tea throughout my last two pregnancies as I heard that it tones up the uterus and makes the contractions more effective during labour.

I grew my own in the garden and had some in a bottle with me during labour.
Im sure it was effective and like a lot of things - if you believe its working it will.

Both labours although not quick, were much shorter than my first

entropygirl · 08/11/2011 12:30

YABVVVVU.

Do people seriously still take raspberry leaf tea even though its been proven to do sweet FA?

Why not screw science altogether and go back to the dark ages?

Geeeet your Reiki here......its loverly and fresh.....

Chulita · 08/11/2011 12:38

YABU, not worth the suffering RLT brings with its horrible flavour and false hope-bringing nastiness.
If it's any consolation my first was 14 days overdue, my second was on the due date so don't lose hope, (you've not got as long left as I have).

pootlebug · 08/11/2011 12:41

YABU to consider drinking it. It is vile.

TeacupTempest · 08/11/2011 12:57

It's not supposed to bring on labour. Isn't it just supposed to strength contractions when they do come?

entropygirl · 08/11/2011 13:40

lol at the way y'all cant agree on what its supposed to do......

ps. thats probably coz it actually doesnt do anything......

MissPenteuth · 08/11/2011 14:35

"strengthen the uterus to make labour faster and easier"
"tone the uterus to help in the second stage of labour"
"tones up the uterus and makes the contractions more effective"
"strength contractions when they do come"

Actually entropygirl we are all agreeing on what it's supposed to do. And many of us are also agreeing that "supposed to" doesn't mean it actually will.

entropygirl · 08/11/2011 14:49

fair nuff. Although I was in fact contrasting the first few posters (talking about inducing labour) with the last few (talking about strengthening contractions) so its more a case of you agreeing with the people you agree with, rather than everyone agreeing....

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/11/2011 14:56

I remember reading somewhere when I was having DS that some countries recommend RLT right through pregnancy. So on that, it cant hurt to start a week early?
(BTW I started about a week earlier than recommended with DS and he was 2 days overdue. 4 hour labour though!!)
