It's not in the department I asked for but as they've had thousands of applicants I am very chuffed even to get an interview Grin

Gamesmaker? Do you mean for the Olympics?

GracieW · 06/11/2011 16:28

Yes. Based at Dorney, near Windsor so it's the rowing etc.

Oh my Husband is one. He had delusions of being Usain Bolts valet rolling of the eyes He got volleyball at Horseguards.

You get taken on a tour, then there is a presentation by one of the organisers. Then you watch a film with Eddie Izzard. You get a half hour interview, talking about yourself! What sort of skills you have, what you you can transfer over from your job to the olympics, show you will make the games a better event.

Good luck

troisgarcons · 06/11/2011 16:32

Horseguards? Earls Court!

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 06/11/2011 16:35

Oh wow! Lucky you! Smile Good luck!

GracieW · 06/11/2011 16:37

Well, I say it's the rowing...it could be anything!

Although I am very good at talking about myself Grin

Ooh good reminder. I have an offer I need to accept :)

GracieW · 06/11/2011 20:33

chocoroo What team are you with? I've been reading online about others' experiences to see what sort of people they are looking for...

YoungStepMum · 06/11/2011 20:40

Not UR at all to be excited...I'm hoping to supervise my A level pupils (young gamesmaker) at the beach volleyball! Great opportunity to be apart of it all. Good Luck!

MrsUnassumingTroll · 06/11/2011 21:02

Good luck OP! The interview is very basic, you'll be fine. PM me if you want specific advice.

chocoroo · 06/11/2011 21:26

I''m on the team that supports the Organisinb Committees from all the different participant countries.

My interview was back in April and it was really like a regular, competency based interview. Lots of "give me an example of...". Type questions.

I'm very excited so wish you luck with your interview - its a total honour to be involved.

GracieW · 06/11/2011 21:52

So I assume I am to be upbeat, positive and relate my skills to their questions? My DH is amused I am taking it all so seriously but I agree, I feel it's such an honour. Once in a lifetime and all that!

And free chocolates too Grin

Upbeat, positive, with lots of example anecdotes of when you have been a team player, overcome adversity, worked hard to get things done, etc.

GracieW · 06/11/2011 22:42

Thank you all for your good luck messages.

TBH, the only part I'm not looking forward to is the mammoth trek across London on a Sunday morning (from Windsor). Confused

But it will be worth it!

chocoroo · 07/11/2011 07:08

There's definitely free chocolate. But I do happen to work for a certain chocolate manufacturer anyway so...

whatdoiknowanyway · 07/11/2011 07:36

Good luck Gracie! I'm going to be working in the aquatics centre and am really excited about it all.

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 07/11/2011 09:07

Is it too late to apply?

whatdoiknowanyway · 07/11/2011 09:22

Yes, but there are paying jobs available now. DD had an interview for a security job last week. Think it's via G4S.
