be amazed I've lost 5lbs! Confused

Just how much was I drinking?! Grin

Actually it's not even ben a week, it was just the five school nights (but that counts as a week in the Proud household sponsored by Jacob's Creek).

We haven't been drinking Mon/Tue/Wed, had one glass on Thur and felt dreadful all day yesterday. I think my body is telling somefink, but I ain't listening cos I luv a drink me...

aStarInStrangeways · 05/11/2011 09:44

this is the very reason i have lost a stone in both my pregnancies. sadly. damn you booze, why do you have to be so delicious?

Proudnscary · 05/11/2011 10:04

I know on a bad week I drink 3 or 4 glasses of vino collapso a night which is baaaad. Also has me raiding the dc's sweet stashes late at night!
Feel better for it, but more happy about weight loss than clear headedness

I'm going to have no booze for the whole of january, which will be fun Hmm

Someone told me that if you go without even a drop of booze for a month your liver completely repairs itself. Add a bit of weight loss into the bargain and it will be a bit more enjoyable :)

Proudnscary · 05/11/2011 10:22

We went two weeks once without, it was fine actually. It's just the thought of it that's depressing!

Proudnscary · 05/11/2011 10:22

(and obviously went without during pregnancies by the way!)

I'm having a dry November in preparation for the December festivities...I hope I lose some weight and get a shiny new liver Grin

Abra1d · 05/11/2011 10:26

I always have at least three or four drink free nights to preserve my figure. Have done for years.

EricNorthmansMistress · 05/11/2011 11:55

I stopped drinking more than once a week and gained half a fucking stone. WTAF??? Envy

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 05/11/2011 12:07

Last time I gave up drinking for Lent I compensated with jaffa cakes and put on weight. My mate from work is doing a pre-Christmas detox, and has done exactly the same.

StandingAlone · 05/11/2011 12:10

Same here, I have been cutting down on my drinking for a while now and have lost 9lbs altogether. DH and I had a couple of beers on Thursday night and I felt terrible all yesterday. Deffinatley staying away from the booze.
When I was pg with DD1 I went from 14.5 stone to 10.8 and similar with DD2. Being pg is the best diet for me Grin Wink

Abra1d · 05/11/2011 17:14

'I stopped drinking more than once a week and gained half a fucking stone"

Oh no! Did you start drinking fruit juice instead, by any chance? I'm told that can be pretty bad for weight-gain.

noddyholder · 05/11/2011 17:16

This doesn't surprise me. I have recently been drinking a bit more and have definitely podged up! I am going to cut right back again.

EricNorthmansMistress · 05/11/2011 17:38

No, tea! But I only have a little milk and no sugar Confused

I'm sure I must have increased my dinner size and be snacking more in the evenings, doesn't feel like a huge amount but obviously enough to make a big difference!

tearsbeforebreakfast · 05/11/2011 18:09

and this is an AIBU how?

I asked whether I was unreasonable for being amazed at a 5lb weight loss

OP posts:
tearsbeforebreakfast · 05/11/2011 18:42

Hmm does the fact that none of the answers say yanbu or yabu give you a hint that you're in the wrong place?

AgentZigzag · 05/11/2011 21:23

A Hmm face because you judge the OP to be posting in the wrong place??

Grip needed? Grin

I drink every most days and our scales have broken so there's absolutely no reason to give it up for an amount of time if I can't measure how much I'd lose is there? Grin

worraliberty · 05/11/2011 21:26

Oh have a wine and relax yourself tears Wine Grin

Well this'll be interesting cos I'm going to have a week with no wine/beer this coming week.

I'll let you know if I lose any weight Grin
