Had a really bad nightmare last night which ended with dh leaving me and taking our ds, very vivid, really frightened me. I woke suddenly dh asked what was up so I told him about my dream. He responded with "if I left you I wouldn't take ds" not, I love you I won't leave you or why would I leave you, IF I leave you.
Apparently vivid dreams can be a side effect of my pnd medication, hope not it was horrid.
Am I being over sensitive? Is tiredness clouding my judgements? Or could he have been more sensitive.....

If I asked my DH anything during the night, I'd be lucky to get grunted at, even if he's fully awake. Maybe your DH just isn't good at conversation at night. I think lifechanger is right, he probably thought he was saying the right thing. If it's still worrying you, have a chat to him later when you're both awake and have Brew :)

LoveBeingAFirework · 04/11/2011 06:19

Maybe he just didn't get what was upsetting you most, he was trying to reassure you that you won't ever lose your son?

minimisschief · 04/11/2011 07:49

apparently i say fuck off if ever spoken to in the night. i am never awake so think yourself lucky lol.

VFVF · 04/11/2011 07:56

What are his sensitivity levels like normally? I'd try not to worry too much, I had similar dream last week where DH left me for another woman, and DH's response was 'Was she hot?'

I thought that quite funny, but I'm luckily on the other side of the PND fog, I don't know how I would've reacted to that a year ago.

LaurieFairyCake · 04/11/2011 07:58

I too found that funny - like the old joke "We'd get divorced but neither of us would take the children".

No ones particularly sensitive while asleep. Have a wee cup of tea Smile

If he had just been woken up,then cut him some slack for not having the perfect answer ready.

NellyMelba · 04/11/2011 08:03

lol men dont think the same as women and would never think of saying oh there there you poor thing

dont be daft, it was a dream

youbethemummylion · 04/11/2011 16:13

He's a man, you woke him up I would be thankful for any response greater than ugh! Don't read too much into it men tend not to think like women expesially when half asleep,

fickencharmer · 04/11/2011 17:31

yes, dreams can be frightening. Please dont take them seriously.

complexnumber · 04/11/2011 18:26

you are def BU to expect him to immediately wake up and console you with words. Some loving hugs maybe.

AnonWasAWoman · 04/11/2011 18:31

It has fuck all to do with him being a man. He has a penis, he's not deficient ffs.

You are being a bit unreasonable but I expect if you talk to him he'll give you a big hug when you need it - YANBU to have felt upset, it's natural and we've all had dreams where we woke up feeling shaken. It's just he was half asleep!
