Grrr!!!!! Every day I get automated calls from companies telling me I could have a claim against an MPPI company. I never listen to more than 2 secs of them so don't know if there's an option at the end to unsubscribe but I find it SO rude and invasive that I get menaced by these companies who can't even be bothered to pay for a person to call me!!!!!!!! Just got 2 from different companies within 5mins while giving DS his tea. Any idea if I can get these kind of calls blocked??? (am with BT). thanks!

www.bt.com/includingyou/calling-easier-unwanted-calls.html

Home phone security
Our security features let you see who's calling you before you answer ? and help put a stop to unwanted calls.

BT Privacy at Home ? Control your incoming calls
£0 a month
Registers you for the Telephone Preference Service which helps stop unwanted sales calls
Includes Caller Display** so you can decide whether or not to answer the call
Please allow 28 days for activation of the Telephone Preference Service. You can find out more about the Telephone Preference Service at www.tpsonline.org.uk

** Customers who are billed every three months must make at least six chargeable calls within those three months, otherwise BT reserves the right to charge £8.10 a quarter (customers who are billed monthly must make at least 2 chargeable calls a month otherwise will be charged £2.70 a month).

Caller Display ? See who's calling before you answer
£2.70 a month
Shows the number of the person calling, so you can decide whether to answer the call
Choose to Refuse ? Stop unwanted or nuisance calls
£3.40 a month
Prevents unwanted or nuisance calls getting through to you
If you frequently receive unwanted or nuisance calls from a particular number, you can block that number ? this block can be removed whenever you like
Anonymous Call Reject ? Block calls from withheld or anonymous numbers
£4.10 a month
If a caller withholds their number, they won't be able to get through to you. They will only be able to get through if they reveal their number?.
? Anonymous Call Reject will not bar incoming calls when the number is 'unavailable' (when the caller has not made any attempt to withhold their number). This can happen in a number of cases, like, for example, if the call originates from an overseas provider.

a few times

"nah mate, I'm from the baliffs"
you'll be off their list PDQ

Register with the Telephone Preference Service: www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/number_type.html
can take a few weeks to take effect, but if the companies ringing are UK based then this should stop them.

It drives me insane that they ring us at work every day (huge company, over 50,000 employees)- we are not allowed to ignore calls, we have to take them, even though we can see they are spam calls. Angry If we don't pick up (eg everyone out of the office at lunch, 1 person manning phones, and stuck ont he phone) then they automatically ring back around 20 mins later, and again, and again.

It makes me so angry that they know we have to pick-up, so they can claim they've rung enough numbers to get their advertising fees (or whatever it is they do to make money) just by dialling all our numbers (which are freely available to the public).

LiegeAndLief · 03/11/2011 20:06

I get these all the time even though we are registered with the TPS. I think they might not be UK-based. Drives me up the wall as well!
