To not know how to put up net curtains or curtains?

When I moved into my new home, FIL put up our net curtains and curtains. DM thinks it's pathetic that I cannot do this myself. I have asked her to teach me but she is says she is too busy. When I asked her how she learnt to do it, she just huffs and puffs: 'Well I just taught myself how to do it...'

Now AIBU to not know how to do this? It's not lke its a simple straightforward task like dusting or cooking that you have to do everyday, is it? Can all of you do it yourselves?

Are you talking about putting up the curtain rail/pole, or just hanging curtains?

I can do both, btw.

YANBU for not knowing how, your DM is BU for not telling! We all learn sometime!

I can do both too btw becuase my parents taught me how! There is also google, and b&q and place like that give away free "how to" leaflets

If you are talking about hanging curtains, then you are NBU for not knowing how if you haven't been shown/had a go. But you BU if you don't have look and have go! It's quite simple really!!

If it is putting up curtain rails, that can be tricky and best left to someone who knows what type wall it is and the best fixing to use to make sure is stays up securely.

I can do both too! But learnt the hard way about fixing curtain poles with very heavy curtains to shitty, thin plasterboard walls.

I do but only because ii watched a youtube step by step film.

Didn't have the foggiest until I did my city in guilds in curtain making. Mind you that was a while ago so I've probably forgotten by now

YABNU to not know before this, but YABU to not know now when FIL has just done it for you - watch and learn!

If you want advice on how to put them up you'd be better off not asking if it is unreasonable but getting over to somewhere like Good Housekeeping and asking.
