why does he get all the credit for christmas when it is me who spends hours and hours either facing the christmas ques and wrapping the presents, putting up the tree in the small hours of the night......not even started christmas shopping but dreading it

Simple answer... Don't give him the credit. In our house, the big presents come from the parents and the stockings come from Santa. Cheap bastard

Same here. We too operate a scaled down Father Christmas where we (and other friends & relatives) give presents and FC just brings a stocking full of delightful cheap stuff. If you go for the full monty, you end up trying to pretend that you are not Christmas shopping nor wrapping up, you tie yourself up in mad lies, the children don't realise that time and money have gone into their presents, and all your effort is hidden.

And the job of putting up the tree is delegated to the DCs.

DC do the tree here too, while dh and I drink mulled wine supervise.

Then all the lop-sidedness isn't my fault :)

But FC/ Santa has done most of the presents in our house until this year when the dc have realised. Phew.
