I am currently hiding in my bedroom, I have a sore throat from shouting at the kids (3 aged 9, 7 and 3) this morning (am in NZ). I have been trying to do some housework and asking the kids to help by tidying their room and cleaning their teeth etc.

This has climaxed with the 3 yr old ruining the 7yr olds colouring, the 7 yr old screaming for 5 mins, the 9 yr old doing her best pre teen muttering and answering back, leading to threats and violence all round until I finally refused to try to intervene anymore and left, slamming my bedroom door and telling them they could do what they wanted. 9yr old looked shocked when I told her she had been pushing me all morning and this is the result.

How long do I hide for? they've gone quiet now, god knows what they're doing..

I had a tantrum during the DCs bedtime tonight Blush.
Ended up with me scooping all DDs belongings off her bed and floor and putting them in a black bag. I eventually relented a little - so long as she tidies it all away she can keep it, but anything still in the bag by lunchtime tomorrow will be binned.

She was actually planning to try and sleep in a bed with a large sports bag sitting on it - how FFS?

When I was small, one half term me and my brother were fighting non stop and mum snapped and told us to each pack a bag and get out! We thought she was joking but no, she meant it and we both of us packed with her standing over us and then she sent us out of the front door! I can still remember sitting on the pavement with my brother, wondering what on earth we were going to do! She let us back in after a bit, we unpacked and were angels for the rest of the holidays. Not suggesting you go that far, just saying sometimes a little scare can be effective! YANBU. Hope your day improves.

Bloody hell Tuna, that's a woman on the edge Shock

I'm half smiling at its effectiveness, but it's obviously stayed with you.

I suppose it was good in a way that she put you out of the situation before she snapped.
